Just finished a great #subregioneurope team meeting in beautiful Colmar. As General Manager, I find the midpoint of the year critical to take stock and prepare for what’s next. Energy levels are just right: we’re excited by what we can achieve before Q2 closes; Spring has finally sprung, and we know that a well-deserved summer break is coming. This year, we decided to focus on operational robustness as the #redthread of the meeting. When teams are clear about the “𝐰𝐡𝐲” (serving patients) and the “𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭” (access to innovative medicines), the “𝐡𝐨𝐰” will make a huge difference. How can we get BeiGene’s innovative #medicines to #patients in a broader, faster, and more affordable way across our Region?   It was the perfect time to: ✳ 𝐑𝐞𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦’𝐬 𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬: we can only prepare for what’s next when we’re fully aware of what we did so far; we can learn from the less positive outcomes and replicate what we excelled at; ✳ 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐰𝐞’𝐫𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐨𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐰𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐭: although objectives are not static, they are our performance compass. Are we meeting our ambitions? Can we do more? Or differently? ✳ 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐚𝐩: what’s standing between our targets and the current status? Do we need additional skills or enhancement of capabilities? ✳ 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫, 𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫: each team member is the CEO of his or her role. We all know the destination and the direction of travel. It’s up to each person to chart an individual course. A big thank you to all members of our team. Is it too soon to start thinking about Christmas and the end of 2024? We are putting up our Christmas tree in the office this week and finalising the food order for our Company Christmas dinner, so at Oxford Biosystems we are certainly getting in the Christmas spirit! But, before we start our celebrations, we should also take time to reflect on the past year. Like many companies, especially the smaller companies and not only those in our industry, we have found 2024 has been another challenging year. We work in a market that has seen many changes since the start of the pandemic. We also see the challenges brought by legislation in our industry – the changes required to products to meet IVDR requirements, the need for MHRA registration and the start of the UKCA requirements. As a distributor, we greatly appreciate the ongoing support of our Suppliers across the world. The business relationships we have built with all of them are stronger than ever and we are looking forward to another great year in 2025. Our wonderful team at Oxford Biosystems has met all our challenges this year with enthusiasm and amazing team spirit. On top of those highlighted skills in Jack Shute's post, I thought I'd share a bit more here: 👩🔬 - I am a BIG nerd, I love research articles, video games, board games, and will absolutely want to fully understand what YOU do in your cool science jobs. 🦕 - I am a proud neurodiverse millennial, and truly believe my ADHD has made me great at my job (most of the time), as science is my "special interest", but I will absolutely fight for equality, and advocate for safe spaces in all of my client / candidate interactions. 🐱 🐶 - I love my pets, and all animals, and fundraise for animals out in desperately bad welfare countries like the UAE, or those caught in the current affairs of Gaza. So if you see any of these posts in the future, please support me in helping the voiceless! 🏃♀️ - Following having a lobectomy in 2019, I am relearning how to run! I've followed and failed the C25K a couple of times, but I am a big believer in picking yourself up, and I am proud to say I am now back on track for a fastish 5km soon! I'd appreciate any running tips, or parkrun buddies in the Manchester area. 🔭 🌏 - I am a Geophysicist by background, and spent time making python programmes, and hiking up volcanoes to "observe" them, but I am also obsessed with space, and the stars, and in another smarter life I would have absolutely become an astrophysicist.
