Smiling-the heartbeat of hospitality Ability to smile is one of the most demanded attributes for any hospitality professional. In food and beverage service, waiters are required to smile always especially when interacting with guests. The smile becomes that starting point and foundation upon which the guest’s meal experience is built. A waiter's smile in a restaurant is that crucial ingredient which creates a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere for guests to manifest their joy. It gives them the assurance that they are in the right place and a safe haven to relax and dine. A smile is the magic that makes the impossible possible-a critical remedy that dissolves anger and frustration. Despite its importance, I believe that smiling is not always easy. Sometimes it is not possible to smile at every situation and to everyone in the service environment all the time. There are moments when you can try to smile and still the fake smile quickly fades away because you have a lot going on inside you and in your mind during service. At this point, smiling becomes a sacrifice where one has to push it out regardless of what is going on inside them for the good of the guest who is expecting exceptional service which they have paid for. Smiling is one thing and always smiling another. Being able to remain smiling throughout the service cycle is not a common ability but a special and unique gift which should be cherished. Are you a hospitality professional and you are struggling to smile consistently in the service arena? Is your environment working against your smiling ability? Do you want to know more about the art of smiling in the context of hospitality? If your response to the above questions is a yes, then you are the right candidate to look forward to my next post on "The Art of Smiling". #LinkedInTalk #hospitality #hospitalityexcellence #serviceexcellence #waiting #hospitalitylife

Attention Restaurant Managers, 80% of guests feel a problem is resolved when they believe you CARE about them. Convince guests that you CARE and will do everything in your power to make a difference. In the final analysis, exceptional customer service is nothing but good ol' world hospitality. Build CARE into every touch point - guests will feel the difference. When the hostess answers a call… warm welcome. When a server greets a table… old friend. When a server places food on the table… cheerful. When a bartender makes a drink… energetic. When a manager says goodbye to guests… bring your pals and come along. Build CARE into your systems. Raise hospitality standards, it will reflect in the top and bottom line 🚀 With EVERY transaction, make sure you have a system that demonstrates you CARE. #CustomerService #RestaurantOwner #BusinessTips #WeCare
