🌍 Today is World Mental Health Day, a day to acknowledge the challenges many face regarding mental health. It's important to shine a light on these issues, fostering understanding and compassion in our communities. Supporting those dealing with mental health challenges starts with open conversations and reducing stigma. Here are a few ways we can help: 1. **Listen Actively**: Sometimes, just being there for someone can make a world of difference. 2. **Educate Ourselves**: Understanding mental health can help us better support others and recognize the signs. 3. **Promote Resources**: Share information about mental health services and encourage those in need to seek help. At Guusto, we believe in taking action. That's why my cofounder Joe and I have pledged 1% of our equity to the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA). Together, we can make a meaningful impact on mental health support in our communities. Let’s continue to raise awareness and support one another. #WorldMentalHealthDay #MentalHealthMatters #SupportEachOther

URAC is proud to share with you information on this year’s Mental Health Action Day. For the fourth annual Mental Health Action Day on Thursday, May 16, 2024, our call to action is to dedicate one hour to CONNECTION. Everywhere we look, we see a loneliness and isolation epidemic, and a challenge this big requires an out-of-the-box approach. Why One Hour? Asking for one hour is simple, measurable and flexible. You can identify the action that makes sense for you, your family and your community to honor Mental Health Action Day in the way that works best for you. Think about actions such as a cup of tea with a friend, an hour volunteering somewhere in your community or a walk with a loved one. Want to learn more about Mental Health Action Day? Patrick J. Kennedy and I had a fascinating time being interviewed by Maiken Scott from WHYY about our new book, PROFILES IN MENTAL HEALTH COURAGE at the historic College of Physicians in Philadelphia. Watch it here: https://lnkd.in/gm_28-qD Like the book itself, these events are meant to help change the way people think and talk about mental illness, substance use disorders, suicide and overdose. They are meant for people who have the illnesses, treat the illnesses, or love someone with the illnesses, but also for people who really don't know much about mental health at all, but would like to learn more. Thanks to our twelve "profiles in mental health courage" for sharing their experiences so that they, and so many others, can be better understood and treated more fairly.
