https://lnkd.in/eqnXw5Ze Intermediate levels of care are so critical! Many youth need more than what outpatient services can offer, and others need the right "step down" service following discharge from inpatient and other higher levels of care. That's where intermediate services come in! This new CHDI report offers recommendations for improving center-based intermediate levels of care. Improving access and quality at intermediate levels of care will help youth and families, and improve overall system functioning. Huge shout out to the report's authors: CHDI's Aleece Kelly and Jason Lang, and Amber Childs at Yale School of Medicine.

Have you ever faced a challenge so complex, it seemed almost insurmountable? In my years working within the Washington scene, particularly with the National Association of Behavioral Healthcare I encountered such a challenge during the implementation of the Inpatient Prospective Payment System for Psychiatric hospitals in 1999. This new system transitioned payments from a cost-based model to a prospective rate system, tailored to patient types and conditions. It was a drastic change and as a consultant developing the model The stakes were high. This involved not just constructing the model But ensuring it was understood and applicable across different geographical locations, affecting numerous hospitals in varied ways. The lesson here is significant. Embracing complexity can lead to transformative outcomes. By working closely with industry leaders and educating them through this transition We achieved the successful implementation of a system that continues to serve well today. Remember, the most daunting challenges often lead to the most gratifying successes. Don't shy away from tackling them head-on. #HealthcareInnovation #LeadershipInAction #SystemTransformation #StrategicConsulting

How can text messaging improve patient well-being? We partnered with Ventura County to provide SMS surveys at regular intervals to assess mood and wellness of individuals leaving psychiatric inpatient facilities. Not only did patients rate the program highly, but the automated SMS messages saved Ventura County staff hours of tracking down clients by making repeated outbound phone attempts.
