Mitjans go for tapas in Denmark, January 2025. One of the key hallmarks of Spanish gastronomy is the “tapas” culture. Tapas are, originally, small portions of food served in bars to pair with a drink. In Spain it is very common to go for tapas: a tradition that consists of going from bar to bar with friends to eat and drink (usually beer or wine). The origin of this tradition is unclear and there are different explanations. Some believe that it was born out of the economic interest of the owners of the taverns, who offered salty food (for example, ham) so that the customer would order more drinks. Whatever the origin is, tapas are known all over the world and are an essential element of Spanish culture. At Mitjans, we have enhanced this gastronomic treasure and offered it, with a high acceptance in markets such as the Danish one. Look at the extensive selection of tapas on offer at Copehangen, and how proud we are in our company to be a part of it. MENY Danmark

Global Wine Etiquette Tips 🍷 Toasting a new business deal is more than just a simple celebration; it’s a key aspect of cultural intelligence. Observing the correct drinking etiquette is crucial to showing respect and understanding in cross-cultural situations, where getting it wrong can send the wrong message. Here’s a quick guide to drinking etiquette around the world: 1️⃣ The French often enjoy wine with meals, emphasizing the importance of pairing wine with food. When drinking wine in France, it’s customary to make eye contact when toasting and to savor each sip slowly, appreciating the wine’s aroma and flavor. 2️⃣ Italians believe in enjoying wine with loved ones and often serve it during meals. A common custom is the cin cin toast, where everyone clinks glasses and makes a heartfelt wish for good health and happiness. 3️⃣ In Spanish wine bars, or bodegas, it’s common to stand and socialize while enjoying wine and tapas, creating a lively and communal atmosphere. Comment down the country you’d like to know more about in the comments below and I’ll come back with a part 2. A great wine list is a necessary component to a great food & beverage program! Catalonia is a vibrant and diverse region in northeastern Spain, and is renowned for its wide array of distinctive wines, reflecting its varied terrain from coastal areas to rugged hills. The region is most famous for Cava, the sparkling wine produced using the traditional method, primarily in the Penedès area, which provides a refreshing and complex alternative to its French cousin, Champagne. Catalonia also excels in producing robust red wines, particularly from the Priorat and Montsant appellations, where old-vine Garnacha and Cariñena thrive on the unique llicorella (slate) soils, creating intensely flavored and mineral-rich wines. Additionally, the Empordà on the Costa Brava and the Terra Alta regions contribute with their expressive white wines made from varieties like Garnatxa Blanca and Macabeo. These Catalan wines, whether sparkling, red, or white, are increasingly gaining international acclaim for their quality and unique character, driven by a blend of traditional practices and innovative modern techniques. ➡ www.somm.site #wine #education #training #learning #growth #innovation #hospitality #tourism #hospitalityindustry #management #marketing #digitalmarketing

📌 Riesling, often hailed as one of the world's noble grapes, has its roots in Germany and Central Europe, where it thrives in the cool climates and slate-rich soils of regions like the Mosel, Rheingau, and Alsace. ▪️ Renowned for its aromatic intensity and high acidity, Riesling is a versatile variety capable of producing wines in a spectrum of styles—from bone-dry and mineral-driven to lusciously sweet dessert wines like Trockenbeerenauslese. Its adaptability extends to the dinner table, where it pairs effortlessly with diverse cuisines, from spicy Asian dishes to rich roasts and delicate seafood. ▪️ Often misunderstood as solely sweet, modern Rieslings showcase remarkable balance and depth, making them a worthy exploration for any wine enthusiast. With a profound ability to express terroir and age gracefully, Riesling stands as a true testament to the artistry of winemaking. ⚠️ Turning someone onto a great Riesling (or any other great wine) when they otherwise would not have tried it is how we win big in the hospitality arena! But... it starts with knowledge. ____________________________________________ "It is no secret as to why expensive restaurants & hotels are struggling to grow their businesses these days. The service level across the board has been drastically reduced, and those who value great experiences are not returning to establishments, regardless of how great the food may have been. When a server, bartender or manager doesn't know what they are doing or care to be there, this eventually shows up in the bottom line of the business." - Financial Times ____________________________________________ ▶️ Web community: www.Somm.Site ▶️ Substack: https://lnkd.in/eUPtga_s ▶️ Portfolio: www.derekengles.com #wine #education #hospitality #management #beverage #learning #marketing #leadership #innovation #teaching #technology
