With the August Bond Election Cycle less than a month away, it's good to review the May Bond Election Analysis our Bond Services Marketing Manager Brett Gillespie put together. Two brief points of recap: in May the highest millage increase that passed was .82 mills, and the zero mill passage rate statewide dropped from a 20-year average of 94% to 79% this past election cycle. School bond elections are changing in Michigan, but our Bond Services experts are staying on top of those changes and developing best practices to help ensure success for our K-12 clients. Though the General Election in November tends to receive the most attention, we know that voters should also place emphasis and focus on legislative races and primary elections as they shape the foundational policies and representatives that will directly impact their communities. Tom Collins, Executive Director of CCEC and Steve Goldstein, Arizona Journalist sit down to discuss why voters may not always put as much emphasis on legislative races, how the primary ballot can affect our everyday lives even more and what voters can do to get involved in the upcoming legislative debates. Happy Election Day, Wisconsin! Polls are open today until 8pm. If you need to find your polling place or want to check out the races on your ballot, head on over to http://myvote.wi.gov! 🗳 Have an absentee ballot you still need to drop off? You can do that today, too! Most bigger municipalities -- and some smaller ones! -- use central count locations. If your city uses central count, drop your absentee ballot off there. If they don't, bring your absentee ballot to your regular polling place. Here's a list of places with central count: https://lnkd.in/giZqJDWd If you requested an absentee ballot but didn't return it and want to vote in person instead, you can do that, too! Obviously you can only vote once, so if you vote in person instead, you'll have to "spoil" (aka destroy) the absentee ballot. Happy voting!

Voting is not just a duty, it is a privilege. And it might be one of the most important decision you make this month. I find the approach and research of @80,000 Hours a helpful way to think about it. "Could one vote — your vote — swing an entire election? Most of us abandoned this seeming fantasy not too long after we learned how elections work. But the chances are higher than you might think. If you’re in a competitive district in a competitive election, the odds that your vote will flip a national election often fall between 1 in 1 million and 1 in 10 million. That’s a very small probability, but it’s big compared to your chances of winning the lottery, and it’s big relative to the enormous impact governments can have on the world." Even if the current ones are not the national elections, the principle still holds. #UseYourVote #EUelections2024
