How has the glass industry provided for you? For your family? That is a question I return to often when talking to people about my job. And it’s an important thing to keep in mind when encouraging others to join our industry. It’s not just about the job itself; it’s about the life the job can afford you. For me, the glass industry has allowed me to live in Colorado, where I can raise my family and enjoy the outdoors. For Jacob, a second-year glazier apprentice in the Eastern Washington North Idaho Glaziers Apprenticeship Program, the industry already has afforded him the opportunity to pursue dirt bikes and street bikes. When recruiting young people to the industry, share how your job has improved your quality of life outside of the workplace. For Gen Z, especially, this can be very impactful. It just might be what entices them to become a glazier, an estimator, a salesperson. We are so thankful for the opportunity to have Pulaski Schools high school students working with us through the Youth Apprenticeship Program. We appreciate their commitment to Wood Tech Industries and are certain they will make a positive impact on our society in whatever vocation they choose to pursue. Mason Murray: "I like working with my hands and am thinking about doing something in construction. I like working with the team members because a lot of the jobs we do here (at Wood Tech) are with someone else."
