Helping charities to use LinkedIn to fundraise from high value partners

The truth is being good at fundraising - requires a whole bundle of skills.
Because donors don't magically appear out of thin air ready to donate to the first silver tongued fundraisers they come across.
There's a little bit more to it than just THE ASK.

Is asking important ... 100%
Does asking take courage ... 100%
Can you ruin a good relationship by asking too early, for the wrong thing, or not having the support of your Executive Director or Board ... 100%
The chances of getting to an ask without ALL these other skills and partnership with your leadership ... slim to 0%.
I hypothesize that if we "saw" and "valued" fundraisers for their work outside the ask, we'd move the needle on decreasing burnout and increasing tenure.
What do you think about my hypothesis?
Thank you Michelle Benson for creating visuals that help educate and tell the story of being a fundraiser. 👏

So incredibly true. The same can be said for marketing and social media.
There can be this mentality of “Well, I use social media myself, so it should be fast and easy!” or “Oh, just throw that into a design/newsletter/campaign!”.
Sadly, no. 😅
It’s imperitive to consider: timing, colors/fonts, layout, ad pushes, length of text or video, use of imagery and metaphor, donor fatigue, donor retention, follow-up timeline, overall goals, peer to peer funding asks, types of solicitation, gift method options, recurring and donor-advised funding, bequests and planned giving, campaign narrative, mission clarity, and so much more…
