As the end of the year begins to slowly come to an end, it's always nice to reflect on all of the positive impacts that have been made throughout 2023. Time Magazine created a great highlight for their Time100 leaders from all over the world who are creating climate action. Very inspiring and hoping our leaders of today can continue this kind of initiative into the new year and beyond. https://lnkd.in/e6BxmKK3

Programme Director, Europe at Centre for Public Impact • MPA, UCL Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose
A holistic approach to addressing climate challenges in government requires investment and support from all parts of a public sector organisation -- not just its sustainability or innovation team. “The job of the sustainability officer is to be "an advocate of others" - not to be the only one responsible for the city's climate action plans. [...] The key is to get in with budgets - that’s where the policy happens.” 🔗 More on systemic approaches to financing climate initiatives in government (and examples of how this is working in practice) from my Centre for Public Impact colleagues Lidya Stamper and Mathilde Foged Jensen. https://lnkd.in/eH6CsAPG

Entrepreneurship is a key driver of economic growth and success. Unfortunately, black entrepreneurs still face significant challenges in accessing the financial and human capital needed to thrive. These disparities have contributed to lower business growth and profitability compared to their white counterparts. It's time to address these persistent gaps and create equal opportunities for all entrepreneurs to succeed. Let's work together to build a more inclusive and equitable economy. #Entrepreneurship #FinancialCapital #HumanCapital #EqualOpportunity #NECEC #BECMA
Next month’s ClimaTech Live 2024 global leadership conference in Boston and the $1B+ climatetech strategy included in the Healey-Driscoll Administration’s proposed economic development bond bill represent a unique opportunity to ensure climate action is synonymous with equity and that communities of color, who have been disproportionately harmed by the climate crisis, are included in shaping climate policies, investments, and solutions. https://bit.ly/4bkwAVN BECMA President and CEO Nicole Obi and Barry Reaves, VP of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice at NECEC detail the opportunity to meet our climate justice and equity goals in an op-ed in CommonWealth Beacon.

Purpose-Driven Marketing & Brand Manager | ESG | Corporate Sustainability | MBA | Business Strategy | Circular Economy | Climate Action
"𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐤 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐭?" 💚🌍 This question has been on my mind ever since I watched this eye-opening #TEDtalk by Jamie Beck Alexander. Because #ClimateAction is not just about waiting for someone else to do something — it’s on us. It’s on all of us. The uncomfortable truth? We’re stuck in this cycle of big promises, but lacking real action. Jamie challenges us to go beyond empty words and demand 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲, 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞 — from our leaders, and from ourselves. ➡️ #Transparency : The truth can be messy, but it’s essential. It’s time to stop pretending we’ve got it all figured out. To make real progress, we must be willing to face and share the full picture and be real about what’s working and what’s not — even when it’s uncomfortable. ➡️ #Accountability : It’s time to deliver what we promise. We have countless commitments and they sound great, but they mean nothing without real action to back them up. We need to walk the talk. ➡️ #Courage : Change is hard. It means stepping out of our comfort zones, challenging the status quo, taking risks and standing up for what’s right. https://lnkd.in/exg5f7Pk #ClimateCrisis #BeTheChange #ClimateChange #ClimateLeadership #Sustainability #ClimateAdvocacy

I participated for ECCO think tank in an incredible three-day journey at the Climate Reality Leadership Training, part of the The Climate Reality Project led by former US Vice President and Nobel Prize Laureate Al Gore. The training was a transformative experience, providing a deeper understanding of the climate crisis and actionable solutions from world-renowned scientists, activists, innovators, and policymakers. Here are a few highlights: 🔍 In-Depth Knowledge: gained a comprehensive view of the climate crisis and the intricate connections to environmental justice issues like air pollution and loss and damage. 💡Advocacy Skills: learned from field-leading organizers and experts on how to effectively advocate for change, influence decision-makers, shape public opinion, and mobilize communities. 🤝 Networking: connected with passionate individuals and organisations dedicated to addressing the greatest challenge of our time. #ClimateReality #ClimateAction #Sustainability #EnvironmentalJustice #LeadershipTraining #ClimateChange #AlGore

At the 2024 Climate & Sustainability Leadership Summit, Peter Schlosser, Vice President and Vice Provost of Global Futures at Arizona State University, examines the future of life on a planet with natural boundaries. Drawing on decades of research, Schlosser emphasizes the critical need to understand the limits of Earth's natural systems and how human activity is pushing those limits. Schlosser’s global experience, from the Arctic to the South Pole, gives him a unique perspective on the interconnectedness of natural systems. He highlights the pressing challenges of climate change, resource depletion, and water scarcity, urging immediate action to mitigate these issues. Schlosser calls for a shift in how we think about development and sustainability, stressing the importance of living within the planet's natural limits to secure a viable future. He underscores the role of science and innovation in addressing these challenges, advocating for interdisciplinary approaches that bring together environmental, technological, and social solutions. Schlosser’s message is clear: the future depends on how we manage Earth's finite resources and our ability to adapt to its natural boundaries. https://buff.ly/4eyNocR #sustainability #climate #environment
