What happens after you hit the water on Raceday, what to be ready for and what to expect. This is what it is all about, the race! all the preparation has been done, you are organised and have planned as best you can, now to execute all that training! And most importantly enjoy the ride, it will be a blast! The satisfaction from the coxswain seat in my humble opinion gives a greater buzz than that of the rower.

10 months ago, as the haze was starting to lift after a difficult season, I decided to lean into a version of myself so big, it felt intimidating. Signing up for the Dopey Challenge, something I’ve long dreamed of doing was simultaneously an exciting dream and so daunting, it felt entirely out of reach. Dopey is a four-day race series through Disney parks- 5k, 10k, half marathon, and finishes on day four with a full marathon to total 48.6 miles (78 km). Most would consider it challenging in any circumstance, even more so when you consider the races start and finish *before* the parks open 😴 Crossing the fourth finish line on Sunday and becoming a 2x marathoner was surreal. I’m still processing a lot, but keep turning over these parallels to day-in & day-out life: 💥 We can *choose* to do hard things. For every great training run, there were two more that sucked (shoutout to Dublin's weather 🌧️ 🥶) . There were dozens of reasons this wasn’t the “right time" for me to do the challenge. Not only can we choose to do hard things, we can have gratitude we *get* to do them. 💥 If you wait for the perfect conditions, you’ll never get anything done. Setbacks are inevitable, focusing on things you can control and being flexible about what you can’t control is key. 💥 The journey matters the most. Often in life, we’re focused on what comes next. The next promotion, the next holiday, the next big event. But, if we're constantly thinking about the future, we miss enjoying the here & now. What better way to go forward in a new year than one foot in front of the other? 😄 #motivation #inspirationdaily #wellnessjourney

🌊Navigate the financial seas of business with confidence and clarity🌊Speaker🌊Wild Swimmer🌊Sustainability Advocate🌊Multi-Award-Winning Practice Owner🌊The Wild Bookkeeper🌊Turning Financial Uncertainty into Clarity
Everything hurts! Sailing yesterday was a tad breezy! It was right on the edge of what we could handle. We decided to still go out though, because unless you challenge yourself, you never find out where the edge is. After racing finished, we always have a mini debrief about what we could have done better. There is always room for improvement. Yesterday though, we didn't really have anything to say to ourselves other than well done for good sailing, getting round the course and finishing! We focused, worked hard, worked as team and got round without breaking either us or the boat. Teamwork though is the biggest factor. When I'm launching the spinnaker, David Johnson has a much better view if things are stuck and I rely on his input from the back of the boat so that I can work quickly. When we are sailing upwind, it's my job as crew to hike out and keep the boat flat and to spot any boats underneath us. There's more racing in store this afternoon. I'm just hoping the wind drops off a bit 😂 The photo is our spinnaker. As crew, it's my responsibility. My shoulders can tell you it's a large sail. If you need someone on your team to keep their eyes on your accounts, so that you can maximise your speed and set a good course for growth, let's have a chat ⛵🌊. We can face the challenges together.

Do you know why we tie up a horse's tail for polo? 🏇 In polo, a horse’s tail is tied up to keep it out of the way during practice and play. This simple but important practice helps prevent the mallet or other equipment from getting tangled up in the tail, and ensures safety for both the horse and rider. 🌿 Next time you see a neatly tied tail on a polo pony, you'll know it's for more than just looks! What do you do over the course of 24 Hours? You wake up, get breakfast, brush your teeth, work, training, hang out......and more. How about just running? Wake up and just run for 24 Hours......what does that sound like to you? For David Morrison it sounded like a good idea but as you can imagine things can and will go awry. Digital Learning & Development Leader ☞ Craft L&D Change Management Programmes, Design Solutions to Enhance Performance, Implement Cutting-Edge Technologies, Build a Robust Culture of Learning & Transformation
Ascot Races: Traditions, Networking and Learnings! This past weekend, I had the pleasure of attending the prestigious Ascot Racecourse for the renowned horse racing event here in Ascot, Berkshire, United Kingdom. As the Global Digital Learning Leader this outing provided a unique opportunity to experience a cherished British tradition and reflecting on my personal journey and connections within our industry. On a personal note, the ambiance at Ascot was truly captivating. The immaculately dressed attendees, the thunderous applause as the horses charged down the track, networking opportunities and the palpable excitement in the air created an unforgettable atmosphere. It was a delightful escape from the routine, allowing me to immerse myself in the rich heritage (feeling ‘Royal’ 😉) and spectacle of this iconic event. One key learning I took away from this experience is the importance of embracing traditions while embracing the evolving modern digital technology landscape. Ascot seamlessly blended its storied history with contemporary elements, including the Royal Family arriving amidst huge applause in traditional chariots, to the most captivating technology huge screens showing live telecast, digital machines at various corners ensuring its relevance in today's rapidly evolving digital landscape. This balance resonates with our approach at Syngenta, where we strive to uphold our agricultural legacy while continuously innovating and adapting to meet the ever-changing needs of our customers and the global community. As I reflect on this memorable weekend, I'm left with a profound appreciation for the power of tradition, networking, and learning. It has reinforced my belief that personal and professional growth often occurs when we step outside our comfort zones and immerse ourselves in new experiences. I'd love to hear your thoughts and experiences: > Have you attended a similar event that blended tradition and modernity? > How do you strike a balance between honouring heritage and embracing innovation in your professional endeavours? > What networking strategies have proven most effective for you in fostering meaningful connections? Please share your insights and perspectives in the comments below. I look forward to an engaging discussion and learning from your experiences. #ascotraces #learning #lifelonglearning #networking #innovation #development
