It may be the end of summer, but Dallas travelers are still looking for one last vacation before school kicks into full gear. The Transportation Security Administration is preparing for the busiest Labor Day travel period on record, with over 17 million people screened from Thursday to Wednesday nationally. Friday is when TSA expects the most passengers to be screened, 2.86 million people. By Alexandra Skores #travel #aviation #TSA

This busy summer travel season has resulted in longer TSA security lines nationwide, including at PIT. As a result, the TSA is making some changes to the checkpoint's operation locally during the early morning rush hours. Starting on July 8 from 4 to 7 a.m. Mondays through Fridays, the alternate checkpoint will be dedicated exclusively to TSA Precheck passengers, while the main checkpoint will be dedicated to non-precheck passengers. Passengers with CLEAR should still use those lanes at the main checkpoint. The TSA believes this will streamline and speed up the passenger experience. After 7 a.m., the checkpoints will return to normal operation. CLEAR and CLEAR PRECHECK PASSENGERS: Use the main checkpoint ONLY and you will still have all your CLEAR and precheck privileges there. The long-term fix is that our new terminal, opening in 2025, will have an expanded security checkpoint to speed up the passenger experience. In the meantime, we continue to work with the TSA and our airline partners to find ways to maximize efficiency for our passengers.

Half empty or half full depends on your ability to freely roam around the cabin. Another way to look at this is "Lucky you" to those who decided to stay at or near home. If you flew yesterday, you were one of nearly 3 million airline passengers who set a TSA record for being screened in a single day. And this holiday is likely to set a new record for road trips as well. Welcome to unofficial summer, pool floats and splash and slides. This holiday weekend has all the ingredients for traffic jams of epic proportions and airlines so packed you'd think they were flying to a one-way ticket to Mars - with layovers in coach, of course. The record travel comes at a time when many are worried about the economy and the direction of the country. But those worries are taking a vacation as well for now. Record-high Friday meets potentially record-high Monday. With many bailing out on Friday, keep in mind, most will be doing return trips come Memorial Day Monday. So if you managed to avoid any snafus in the air, on the road and everything in between at the beginning of your trip, the return trip may shape up to be thicker than your grandma's gravy along with flights more crowded than a clown car at a tiny house convention. Ah, nothing says vacation that dusting off your patience pants and preparing to deploy your hangry toddler noises to claim that last remaining highway lane https://lnkd.in/gAeGJQ-3 #TSA #airtravel #airlines #holiday #culture #travel #vacation #mentalhealth

Get ready for an extremely busy week at airports across the country. Here's some quick tips for navigating through the holiday rush: ✅ Arrive at minimum 2 hours before departure to allow plenty of time to navigate through the check-in and security process. Support your local airport and use this extra time to dine or shop! ✅ If checking a bag with an airline, invest in an AirTag for your suitcase. From pure anecdotal data, delayed bags with AirTags are reunited with guests 837% faster than bags without AirTags. It's a fact (probably). ✅ Be nice to airline and airport workers. Air travel can be incredibly stressful, but we're all here to help get guests to their destinations. Choose to be kind. #airlines #aviation #airports #transportation https://lnkd.in/e9NVH7tU

Salt Lake City International Airport is a haven for travelers who get stressed by delays, according to federal data, but how true that is varies by month. More than 83% of flights through the airport that gives people a gateway to Utah’s capital city and the “Greatest Snow on Earth” land and take off on time, based on data from the U.S. Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS). SLC held the best ranking for on-time arrivals and departures in 2022, but lost the top spot to Minneapolis-St. Paul for departures in 2023. Airport traffic increased in that same time frame by more than 2,600 passenger flights and 1.2 million passengers — about 511,000 boarding and 688,000 arriving — according to data the airport posts on its website. Bill Wyatt, the airport’s executive director, said the dip is so small, there isn’t much to glean from it. “It just is what it is,” he said. “It will go up and down.” #travel #airtravel #airports #flights #flightdelays By Megan Banta and Blake Apgar

Get those summer travel airfare tickets booked early all! Why you ask? Here's why! (and don't forget to shop & dine at Paradies Lagardere :-) TSA Predicts 6-8% Increase in People Screened This Summer Year-Over-Year TSA expects a 6-to-8 percent increase in people screened this summer at airports nationwide, Administrator David Pekoske said this morning during a press conference at LaGuardia Airport, where industry partners, including AAAE President and CEO Todd Hauptli, also gave summer travel tips. "We will likely be screening 3 million passengers in one day at some point this summer,” Pekoske said, “and have already recorded two top 10 busiest days this month, with the Thursday and Friday prior to Mother’s Day reaching 2.8 million travelers.” Pekoske said the agency is ready and is seeing lower attrition and higher retention rates, with more applications coming in, as a result of the new compensation package passed by Congress and secured in the President’s budget. For the upcoming Memorial Day weekend, Pekoske said travel volumes are expected to be highest on Friday, May 24, screening more than 2.9 million passengers, and Thursday, May 23, when TSA is projecting to screen more than 2.8 million passengers. “Airports are portals to the planet, and we are going to test that theory this summer,” Hauptli said. “It is good for the economy, it is good for our industry, and it is good for our souls as we connect with friends and families and business partners.” Hauptli also reminded attendees to secure their REAL ID. Beginning May 7, 2025, all airline passengers who use a state-issued ID or license to fly must have one that is REAL ID compliant. #airports #airportconcessions #travel
