🌱 🌱 Mangroves, the ecological linchpins of coastal areas, emerge as nature's silent architects. Their adept carbon sequestration, role as biodiversity havens, and natural defense mechanisms against coastal threats distinguish them. Mangroves epitomize the delicate equilibrium within coastal ecosystems, standing as nature's guardians along our shorelines. 🌊 #Mangroves #BlueCarbon #CarbonCapture #Carboncredit #ClimateAction #NatureHeroes #CarbonConsultancy #CarbonCredits #ClimatePartners #AdvaitInfratech #AdvaitGreenergy

What a great document produced in the land down under! This Playbook provides a series of plays, or actions, for urban practitioners to understand and adopt in their disciplines, in order to address the barriers to implementing urban nature in our cities. I highly recommend the read. #urbandesign #biodiversity #parks #landscapearchitecture

Building a Thriving Ecosystem Through Practical Restoration. At some point in our lives, we have all envisioned a world where restoration is the norm and all human activity sustains a thriving ecosystem. But what about a world where this is not just a vision or a dream? A world where it is our reality. In 2024, this is an attainable goal. The modern restoration ecology and its practice began in the early 1900s. This is a practice that has grown over the years and has since developed with various ecological restoration activities, from large projects to smaller initiatives. Research has doubled over the years, and we now understand more about our environment than we did a couple of years ago. We are certainly equipped with the tools needed to start constructing a world where our vision of rebuilding our ecosystem is a reality. In 2024, let's start taking the necessary steps to rebuild the planet that we depend on for our survival. Let this year be the year we collectively work towards making restoration a priority. This can be a small contribution through a lifestyle adjustment or perhaps in a much more substantial way by investing in a project that moves you. The most important thing is for us to start taking action to reclaim a thriving ecosystem and rebuild a world where human beings, nature, and animals coexist harmoniously. Here's to 2024, where we turn a vision into reality. #2024goals #restoration #ecologicalrestoration #ecology #newyear #newgoal #landrestoration

In our December edition of the #Forest #Restoration Talks jointly organized with Andreas Bolte and #IUFRO, researcher Christina Dollinger from Technical University of Munich shared results and projections for the forest restoration activities implemented in the Berchtesgaden #NationalPark. With #ecosystem #modelling they explored how forest composition and structural #diversity will increase by 2100, and how #climatechange might impact forest composition #recovery. Want to learn more? 🌳 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞'𝐬 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲: 𝐆𝐈𝐒 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐬 As our passion for geography and technology intertwines with our love for nature, we've discovered the transformative power of GIS in enhancing and conserving green spaces. Here are key ways GIS is crucial to the well-being of our parks: 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐥 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠: We use GIS to carve paths that minimize environmental impact, creating harmonious trails within the landscape. 𝐆𝐏𝐒 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠: Tracking technology helps us understand the impact of visitors on ecosystems in national parks, balancing human activity with nature conservation. 𝐍𝐨𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠: Mapping sound levels to understand the interaction between visitors, wildlife, and park resources, promoting peaceful coexistence. These initiatives not only enrich the park experience for every visitor but also ensure a sustainable future for these tranquil oases. Through GIS, we can connect more deeply with nature and actively contribute to its preservation. 𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐬, 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐰𝐞𝐛𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐞: https://lnkd.in/d2kpqVkd

Are we part of nature 🌿, or separate from it? Is nature a wilderness, or have we altered nature so much as to create 'new natures' 🤔. All of these questions were discussed in an internal workshop on our relationship with nature, as part of a new 'Deep Mind' 🧠 series led by MSQ/Sustain's senior strategist Will Railton. The key takeaway? Crucially, our view of nature influences how we communicate about it, and has wider implications for how we approach conservation. #Nature #NatureConnection #NatureConservation #Conservation #Communications

Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) are a formal designation that recognises biological significance. They are representative of natural heritage, and are a vital part of nature strategy and nature based recovery. There is an assumption that SSSI designated sites will be in good condition and exemplary of specific aspects of nature. However, over the past 10 years SSSI condition has declined with only 38% being in favourable / good condition. There is a need to continue to monitor SSSI condition in the context of their surroundings to understand how their performance can be improved and enhanced. Map Impact's BiodiversityView offers a consistent understanding of habitats and condition and is available throughout England. Check out our explainer video to find out more: https://lnkd.in/eUf3aH5H
