"Volvo to release long-range electric truck in 2025" Is electric the way to go for FTL/LTL transportation? I've often thought that portion of transportation would end up on hydrogen fuel cells but this news of a 600KM range truck from Volvo is certainly interesting. One thing is certain, we can't continue to operate on diesel if we are to meet our emissions reductions goals. It will be interesting to see more details about this truck and which carriers will be early adopters. Food for thought! #transportation #electrification #logistics #sustainability #decarbonisation

Electric Vehicles 🚗⚡️ (1min read) Electric cars are set to dominate the future automotive landscape—it's undeniable. However, challenges pose, particularly surrounding the cost and longevity of batteries. Innovation in this area will be key to ensuring a sustainable and efficient transition to electric vehicles. One crucial question remains: what solutions can we develop for the responsible disposal or recycling of batteries once their lifecycle ends? This is a vital aspect of ensuring the environmental benefits of electric vehicles are fully realized. #EV #Electriccars #Tesla #RenewableEbergy #SolarEnergy

What do you think about our vision of the trends in the trucking industry and KDRIVE answer? The trucking industry is undergoing a significant transformation driven by several key trends. First, there is an increasing push towards sustainability, with stricter environmental regulations and a growing emphasis on reducing carbon emissions. The demand for zero-emission vehicles is rising, but the high cost and limited range of new electric and hydrogen trucks are significant challenges for many fleet operators. Another trend is the need for technological innovation to improve efficiency and reduce operational costs. Fleet operators are looking for solutions that not only comply with environmental standards but also enhance the performance and reliability of their trucks. KDRIVE.tech is perfectly positioned to take advantage of these trends. Our retrofit solution allows existing diesel trucks to be converted into cleaner, more efficient vehicles without the need for a complete fleet overhaul. This approach offers a cost-effective and immediate solution to the challenges posed by new regulations, making it easier for fleet operators to transition to greener operations. Additionally, by integrating advanced AI software into our system, we’re not just offering a retrofit but a smarter, more efficient way to operate trucks. This positions KDRIVE.tech as a leader in delivering both environmental and operational benefits, allowing our customers to stay ahead in a rapidly evolving industry.

ICE are easy to recycle. On average, 85 percent of an ICE vehicle’s weight can be recycled or reused, with the other 15 percent—usually plastic, glass and foam—ending up in a landfill; Which means those same plastic, foam and glass are used in EVs and they also get tossed! Currently, globally, ONLY 5 percent of lithium-ion batteries are recycled.... around 50 to 65% of an EV can be recycled! Less recycling means a larger environmental footprint! The norm for EVs. They need to encourage not just use, but also repair, recycling, and reuse... which so for they are nowhere close.
80,000 cars a month scrapped in the UK 🚗 Did you know approximately 80,000 cars are scrapped each month in the UK? This trend is reshaping our automotive landscape, presenting both opportunities and challenges. Although the annual scrappage rate is declining, indicating that cars are lasting longer, the impact remains significant. Scrapping older, less efficient vehicles helps reduce harmful emissions, paving the way for cleaner air and a healthier environment. The continuous turnover in the vehicle market opens doors for newer, advanced technologies, especially EV’s. Recycling materials from scrapped vehicles supports a circular economy, reducing the need for new raw materials. However, the scrappage process generates substantial waste, requiring efficient management to minimise environmental impact. The cost of scrapping can be significant for both consumers and businesses. The transition to EV’s and newer technologies presents challenges, including adjustments in infrastructure and consumer behavior. Yet, this high scrappage rate signifies a dynamic automotive market increasingly driven by sustainability and innovation. As older vehicles are phased out, there's a golden opportunity for EV’s to capture a larger market share, particularly with the massive decline in diesel sales. This transition, though challenging, promises a future with reduced emissions, advanced technologies, and a more sustainable environment. The automotive industry must continue to adapt, focusing on innovation and sustainable practices, while educating consumers about the benefits of EV’s, and the importance of transitioning to sustainable mobility solutions. The USED electric vehicle market is improving, for those who wish to go this way. It likely works best for retired, semi-retired people or others who want to be green, but drive less regularly, and are wondering how to justify the investment in a new electric car. In countries, states and provinces that have incentives for buying an electric car, many are extending those incentives to used electric cars. It might be a good time to look into it. This piece provides a few links to help find used electrics. If you drive long distances, however, be warned, older electric vehicles often have shorter range and other more limited features than the very newest models.
