Often the first thing to look at in this situation is the way that they are falling asleep. Are you assisting them to sleep or doing it for them? If so, this is your starting point. Do you need to go to bed 'earlier' but struggle? It may be your chronotype (your body's natural preference for sleep/alertness) is that of a night owl. Which is great for partying (whoop!) but not so great for most jobs or kids (boo!). Early morning light has been shown to move your internal clock forward, making you feel sleepy earlier. Combine that with avoiding light later in the day, and you are on to a winner. So, if this is you and you want an earlier bedtime than your body wants, consistently try these - 🍒 early morning walks for the light 🍒 early morning exposure to a good quality light box/SAD lamp if that is not possible 🍒 no sunglasses in the daytime when sunny 🍒 sunglasses on in the evening when sunny 🍒 lights dimmed at home early evenings Or, of course, you could DM me if you need more help than that.

The other three are Jagrut (waking), Swapna (Dreaming) & Turiya (Pure Consciousness). Our brain has 4 gears namely Beta (Sober), Alpha (Twilight), Theta( Deep subconscious mind), Delta (Deep sleep). But if the mind continues to spin in the loop of overthinking which is High Beta, in which we are stressed, anxious & depressed. So the body moves out of balance & homeostasis. The body as an intelligence is designed to return to rest & repair mode of delta brain wave consciousness, but since the mind is hovering in the high beta, the body is unable to shift to a deeply relaxed & restful state. To manoeuvre the brain state of consciousness from one state to another, it has to go the neutral state which is the rest & relaxed state. Only then can it pass through. Since the mind is caught up in an endless thinking & feeling continuum, this powerful technique actually draws the mind away from that vicious loop like distracting the child with a toy. So we give this technique to our mind to draw its attention, in that matter of time the body can just feel the deep relaxation & can prepare to shift its gear. During sleep, our body as a biochemical machine returns to a state of rest & repair mode. What happens if we run the machine and not give it rest? Are you a #badlseeper? I see you! I was for 4 years a full blown #insomniac and suffered from all the fallout you get with poor sleep - not just tiredness, but low mood, forgetfulness and difficulty concentrating - the whole shebang 😓 But during those 4 years I tried tons of things - scientifically based and not scientifically based - to try and regain good sleep. And I finally did earlier this year. And one of the things that worked was what I outline in the video below 🔽 Have a watch (it's barely 2 mins long) and see if it helps.
