A great case study on executing proficient #facilitiesengineering while adhering to #histroical #preservation. Reminds me of the three pillars of #program #management… 1) #cost 2) #schedule 3) #performance And remember… you can’t get all three. Looks like #quality and performance were for most, I think the original goal was to be done before the Olympics, which they missed… I wonder how far off was the #cost #estimate.

Have you seen the 2024 World Press Photo award winners yet? It is perhaps the premier photo award contest for capturing the state of the world right now. The World Press Photo award winners combine the meaning of the “decisive moment” – when the photographer is right there for that one unique shot – with a long-term view of the meaning of the story. The photo journeys are really not about art, events or visuals. This is about capturing the human emotion as we go through sometimes immense challenges and tragedy. Earthquakes, wars, floods, fighting fires and saving the wild. There is loss, but there is also hope from the human resilience. Plus, of course, the quality of the professional execution of these images is unrivalled. See these incredible pictures yourself and take a moment to reflect. You can explore all the award winners by regions: https://lnkd.in/d7xKuW_c #creativity #vision #photography #crisis #geopolitics #worldpressphoto #climatechange #migration #conflict

Exhibition: 'Picturing the Border' at the Cleveland Museum of Art I wrote this philosophical text as a flow of consciousness, a layered exposition of my thoughts on space, photography, identity and belonging. I hope I have done the subject justice... in freedom. It is a heavy buy hopefully interesting text. PLEASE read only if you are interested in working those little grey cells… . "within, bridge and fissure" The struggle for identity, for culture, for nation is a struggle inscribed in space. So observes Wendy Garden.1 The spaces that bodies move in, through and over are fluid spaces, permeable spaces, fragmentary and transitory spaces. They are also spaces of displacement and distance which form a kind of 'alienation' which derives from the Latin alienare: to render foreign, other.2 ... The images in this posting draw our attention to fissures (George Rodriguez, Susan Meiselas, Ada Trillo) and bridges (Graciela Iturbide, Ronald Rael and Virginia San Fratello with Colectivo Chopeke). They also possess a multivalent narrative, allowing the work to be accessible to different interpretations, meanings, and values: a new door or path opens up on the basis of very diverse needs and objectives. These images, untraceable gifts from photography itself, are marks of candour and authenticity, both descriptions of a stable object and the fleeting glance (Firstspace and Thirdspace) interacting upon each other. They are an investigation into our fluid identity and shifting place in our worlds.14 In spatial dialectics and in the nuances of contradictions we proceed onwards, paying no heed to the dangers which lie ahead, journeying on to fulfil our desires: to be seen, to be heard, in our difference and uniqueness, enacting change from within. Zivame’s Museum Of Boobs campaign captures attention because; A) It addresses what women get insecure about and normalises it - How my boobs look? In my opinion, this statement ‘no two boobs are alike’ was a great hook to the film B) It addresses the Pain Point - If we have different kinds of breasts why don’t we have different kinds of bras? Women don’t get the right bras most of the time. Comfort, look, right size; difficult to get all three together C) Addresses and solves the problems with the product - Making bras for different breasts while understanding what women feel and addressing it D) The visual communication 1. The back shot was followed by the name reveal works really well for me 2. The song creation was a great way to bring out the problem and solution approach in the film 3. Powerful images of different women Also, if you read the comments on their instagram, you will know they have reached the right audience and made an impact Long story short; we are bound to buy from brands that address our problems and provide a solution by making a legit product Link To The Campaign: https://lnkd.in/duYQ4pvg

🎥 Film Screening: This Planted Place (2022) 📆 Date: Sunday, January 26 ⏰ Time: 12-5 PM 📍Location: Contemporary Calgary, Heather Edwards Theatre In conjunction with Mia + Eric: In a Strange Place, currently on view in the Morris & Ann Dancyger Observatory Gallery, we’ll be showing This Planted Place (2022), an earlier work by the artists, over the course of the exhibition. This Planted Place will be shown on loop in the Heather Edwards Theatre during our opening hours on January 26, as well as a final screening on February 9, 2025. This screening is free with gallery admission. This Planted Place examines the ecological complexities and human and more-than-human relationships in the Heidewald, a small woodland in Maxdorf, Germany. The Heidewald is the largest planted robinia forest north of the Alps. This species is controversial because of its ability to aggressively overtake native species, but it is also an important resource for the region as the annual blossoms attract beekeepers and their colonies from all across Germany each spring. In many ways, the Heidewald is the perfect representation of the idyllic German woodland. But this setting of contemplation is continually disrupted by the human world: chainsaws, airplanes, sirens and a human voice amplified by a megaphone. The Heidewald is a wholly unique landscape, but also a place where questions of global significance can be asked. This Planted Place was commissioned by Matchbox: The Itinerant Art and Culture Project in the Rhine-Neckar Region as part of a multi-year engagement process called 3 WOODS. Mia + Eric.
