On April 18, National Lineman Appreciation Day, we honor the skilled and courageous men and women who dedicate their lives to ensuring we have reliable access to electricity. Lineworkers work under challenging conditions, often in extreme weather, to build, maintain and repair the electric grid. Thanks for all you do! #LinemanAppreciationDay

Kindness Thought of the day...Who do you call when your power goes out? Probably Not Ghostbusters! You very likely call the power company. Did you know that April 18, 2013, was designated as National Lineman Appreciation Day? Don’t worry because whenever you are reading this, it’s not too late to appreciate them. In fact, I believe it would be a kindness gesture to thank and appreciate them year-round. The congressional resolution stated that linemen are often the first responders during storms and other catastrophic events; sacrifice time with their families and friends; and work in dangerous conditions with thousands of volts of electricity atop high-power lines to keep electricity flowing 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and therefore should be recognized and appreciated for their dedication and service. Kindly consider thanking these courageous men and women throughout the year. When is the last time you initiated an act of kindness, and when is the last time you were the recipient of one? Please feel free to share and post.

NYPD Chief of Department - Retired; Director of Outreach and Engagement, Policing Leadership Academy
Now is not the time to give AT&T and FirstNet a whole new spectrum band. AT&T does not need this spectrum, but public safety agencies do. This spectrum grab appears to be a means to an end for AT&T, despite what the harm to public safety users and the citizens they protect might be. It’s yet another shadowy Washington-focused power play that has real life impacts for all of us. The FCC should reject this blatant example of corporate greed and AT&T, and their supporters should put their interests aside and listen to the men and women on the front lines of public safety. Leave the spectrum alone and let it be put to use for the public good, not a corporation’s bottom line. https://lnkd.in/eb3pxvtx

I’ve been thinking a lot about what’s required to scale in climate tech, and what it takes to bring carbon removal from its place as a growing but still early industry to a grand, global network supported by robust infrastructure. One of the big enablers: thousands of people working in skilled trade jobs. Executing against the most ambitious climate goals happens one job at a time. I enjoyed this article as I explore Eion’s role in the development of this industry. —— The Great Electrician Shortage https://lnkd.in/eFBz4AGz
