In the UK Massage Therapy isn't regulated This means there are a wide variety of training courses, massage styles and training levels Not all of which will mean you can get insurance to practice - which you do need to work from premises that are not your own home And don't get me started on courses that claim to qualify anyone without any hands on experience 😱 In America, where the profession is regulated, the job title of Massage Therapist is protected (like Doctor, Physiotherapist etc) While I'm not sure this is currently needed - there are plenty of competent individuals already practicing safely - it wasn't so long ago government decisions locked down all massage therapists throughout COVID restrictions (irrespective of their work environment)and lumped them into the category of 'close contact workers' with tattoo artists and hairdressers. It left me feeling they don't really understand what a lot of us do as professional, qualified and insured Massage Therapists So maybe it is required 🤔 The closest we have overall is the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council - a voluntary register for many different professions, and several separate membership organisations that assess training courses in different categories I am included in this register and am insured to practice at the Southdown Clinic in Harpenden, Hertfordshire Do you think there is a trend towards regulation? Have you seen this in your field of work? #Regulation #ProfessionalStandards #VisibilityChallenge #MassageTherapyHarpenden #TraumaRecoverySupport #MassageAfterCancer #PTSDSupport #MovementAfterSurgery #StrokeRecoverySupport #ChronicPainRelief

What to expect during a massage therapist visit If you’re new to massage, it’s good to have some idea of what’s commonly done during a session: You’ll likely need to answer questions about your goals for your massage. For example, are you looking for relief in a specific area or solely to relax? Your massage therapist will also want to know about any medical conditions you might have. You may need to undress or wear loose-fitting clothing. Undress only to the point that you’re comfortable. You generally lie on a table and cover yourself with a sheet. I love your job as a massage therapist, I would really love to be a massage therapist most especially mobile just like you. I hear this every time from strangers, friends and people around me. And as much as my job is fun and flexible, there are some challenges we face as a mobile massage therapist and today I'll be discussing some of them. 📌Logistics and Travel:Constant travel requires carrying all necessary equipment and navigating traffic and parking, making efficient scheduling crucial. 📌Safety and Security:Ensuring personal safety is vital. Client screening, using verified booking platforms, and having a check-in system with a trusted contact are essential measures. 📌Client Comfort and Environment: Adapting to different environments to provide a consistent, high-quality experience requires clear communication with clients about their space and needs. 📌Managing Work-Life Balance: The flexibility of mobile work can blur personal and professional boundaries. Setting limits and maintaining a healthy balance is important. 📌Physical Demands: Transporting and setting up equipment adds to the physical demands of massage therapy, requiring good self-care to prevent fatigue and injury. 📌Building a Client Base: Marketing and maintaining a steady client base can be challenging without a fixed location, necessitating continuous promotion and a strong local presence. 📌Professional Boundaries:Addressing inappropriate advances is crucial. Establishing clear boundaries, communicating policies, and maintaining professional conduct ensure a safe, respectful environment. Despite these challenges, being a mobile massage therapist is incredibly rewarding. The flexibility, strong client relationships, and providing comfort in clients' homes make it all worthwhile. I hope to connect with you all and answer questions you all have concerning the massage field #massagetherapy #reapers30daysconsistencychallenge #holisticandwellness #relaxation

“Are you a physical therapist?” Someone asked me this question earlier this month… 😬 It may seem like an extremely random question because I am very much so a marketer and far, far from a physical therapist. But it was actually a major compliment. Why? When he asked me this question, I was wearing a Progressive Motion t-shirt after going straight to a networking dinner for The Owners Club (see picture) after a PM team offsite. I mean, I can’t blame him - all the signs were there to suggest I was a physical therapist at Progressive Motion. 🤷♀️ But to me this meant that I am so engrained into the culture and company of my client that people think I’m in another profession - the profession of my client. One of our value propositions at Honey & Hive is our Team Member Mentality. A Team Member Mentality means we are speaking our client's language, we celebrate their wins and help them fix their failures, we’re wearing their merch, and we may even get confused as being a full-time member of their team. 😅 I can count on both hands the amount of times people have been surprised to hear I have my own company and work with multiple brands, not just for the client in question. So, while it still caught me off guard being asked, “Are you a physical therapist?” it validated one of our goals at Honey & Hive - being an engrained member of our clients’ teams.
