UK car production fell by 30.1% in November, marking the ninth consecutive month of decline and the worst performance for the month since 1980. UK car production saw a drop of 8.4% in August, according to recent data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) Traditionally, August is a low-production month anyway as a result of summer shutdowns, and this year’s decrease only amounted to 3,781 fewer vehicles, with 41,271 cars coming off the assembly lines. European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA) has published a statistical pocket book filled with interesting data on the automotive industry, from employment to taxation and production to environmental impact. One of the more telling graphs is on the new car sales in the EU by power source. The sale of alternatively powered cars has doubled between 2020 and 2023. The trend is clear, even if the sector is going through a dip at the moment.
