Great piece by Mandy Wiener. The real questions to ask oneself as a voting citizen - taken from the words of Ronald Reagan - include the following: 1. Am I better off than I was five years ago? 2. Is it easier to go and buy things in the stores than it was five years ago? 3. Is there more or less unemployment in the country than there was five yeas ago? 4. Is South Africa as respected thoughout the world as it was? The answers one finds to these questions may help to bring a few realities into focus and balance the narrative. #votingmatters #changethenarrative #citizenship
The ANC is feeding us a fiction it genuinely believes. They are telling us an incomplete story. They are trying to convince us that this is the only story. That is because the ANC genuinely believes this fiction to be reality. They don’t understand how opposition parties could think this is a wonderland, a glorious dystopian universe, that they are living in. https://lnkd.in/de-f8Zfa

Public relations is a profession grounded in ethical principles and dedicated to fostering mutual understanding and trust. By debunking the myth of the 'spin doctor' and embracing a narrative of integrity and transparency, we can enhance the public's perception of PR and underscore its essential role in modern society. https://bit.ly/3RIHg90

Public relations consultant, CIPR Fellow and Chartered Practitioner, Independent PR Practitioner of the Year finalist in CIPR 2024 Excellence Awards, Nottingham-based PR, pwpcomms.co.uk
Interesting insight from the CIPR 2024 State of the Profession report, put together by Ben Verinder. The annual survey, this year hearing from more than 2,000 practitioners, says that the strategic function of public relations is now being realised. It states: “Seven out of 10 in-house professionals say their organisations are positive about the value and strategic contribution of the role of public relations. However, far fewer say their organisations have clear measures of success for PR when it comes to organisational outcomes.” PR is at its best when working within the board room (although the corridors tend to host the most insightful and interesting conversations). Starting this Thursday evening is our Cross-Cultural Communication unit. We'll look at how to understand why people from other cultures do what they do and how to contextualise the gospel. Available on-campus, off-campus (live online) and for audit. Learn more at: https://buff.ly/3m86WZV ----- Would you like to get to know people from another culture, but are afraid of ‘treading on their cultural toes’? Do you want to learn how to share the gospel with people who are very different to you, in a way that resonates with their hearts? This unit will help you understand why people from other cultures do what they do. It will enable you to discover the cultural values that underpin behaviour. You will learn how to contextualise the gospel so that it comes across as good news for the people you are relating to. You will analyse the values and deep-level assumptions of a particular ethnic group of your choice, and, building on this understanding, work out ways of sharing the gospel with those people that addresses their felt needs and the way they see sin.

It was a guest lecture by Professor Zane ma Rhea back in 2010 that intrigue me about #wisdom and the study of wisdom. How is wisdom acquired? Can organisation build and shore up wisdom? What is PR Wisdom? Is it an instinct or an exact science? Are we born with the ability to sense a story? Can machines learn wisdom (eventually)? Lets revisit our craft at our IPRS Tabao Time. Register to get the Zoom access. This event is for IPRS Member's Only. IPRS (Institute of Public Relations of Singapore) #publicrelations #communications
