During the first Friday in September, National Lazy Mom's Day delegates everyday mom jobs to someone else. #NationalLazyMomsDay Busy moms know that the work of being a parent is never done. However, occasionally parents need to recharge. The laundry and the dishes will be there later. When possible, finding someone to watch the children for a few hours is worth it. Sometimes all a mom needs is a nap. Other times, mothers (and fathers too) seek adult conversation. Even though moms around the country view this day in different ways, the majority see it as a day for moms to take a break. While the occasion holds no shine to Mother's Day, may we suggest some cooperation with Mom? Allow her to take a break. Divide the chores. Place a moratorium on family feuds. That's how most celebrate this National Day. You don't have to celebrate like most moms do, however. Maybe it is a hammock and book kind of day for your lazy afternoon. Help mom celebrate this holiday by cleaning up after yourself. Rub her feet. Walk the dog. Mow the lawn. Put the dishes away. Pick up your dirty clothes. The list goes on.

Our daughter's birthday is on Friday. So far, I have: -Booked the The Little Gym of Asheville. -Came up with the theme (disco!). -Designed, ordered & sent out invites. -Messaged daycare to send the invite to the class. -Answered RSVPs and questions from friends. -Ordered the cupcake platter & food platters. -Ordered the decorations for at home & the party. -Ordered her outfit. (And my outfit & her dad's.) -Figured out what to get her. (Her Lovevery box for the win!) -Bought and wrote a card she won't care about until she's 25. -Wrote essay for Mila & Jo Media about my daughter's second birthday. -Realized daycare had a teacher workday on her birthday, so planned to take the day off to spend with her. (Children's museum, toy store, ice cream.) -Bought the croissants for our family routine of breakfast in bed on birthdays. -Prepared for our overnight guest coming to stay for her birthday (including stocking the fridge, tidying the room, figuring out her daughter's dietary needs). -And probably somethings I'm missing? (MOMS: what am I missing?!) Alllllll on top of work. Could (and would have) my husband helped? Sure. And did he? Yes, when I asked. But was it important to me to prepare for her birthday because it means so much to me—and is also an anniversary of becoming a mom for me? Yes. I've never felt more like a productive superhero since becoming a mom. #momisasuperpower #superpower

Helping Ambitious Leaders Go From Overwhelmed to Unstoppable in 90 Days | Lead with Confidence at Home & Work Using the High-Impact Leadership Blueprint
PSA to any dads celebrating mother's day this year: There are 365 days and 5,840 hours (assuming 8 hours of sleep each night ha). If you're thinking of giving mom "a day off" from household chores, awesome. I'd offer for your consideration: - One "day off" is nice, but the other 364 days should be spent equitably sharing in the physical, emotional, and mental load. - Make sure mom's "off" day isn't just doubling her workload tomorrow - notice what needs to be done (without asking her) and get it done so tomorrow isn't overwhelming. What moms that I know really want from their partners: - Their time valued equally. - Their time freedom honored. - Partners to notice without asking. - Commitment to personal development. - Invisible work load awareness from their partner. - Equitably sharing in the invisible work load of their home. The truth is, we don't need a day to celebrate moms or dads. But if you choose to celebrate it, the best gifts are the ones that don't add any load (physical, mental, emotional) to mom. Hope this helps. Rooting for you :) #mothersday #MentalLoad #FairPlay

Happy Mother’s Day Mother’s day can mean different things to different people. To mothers, grandmothers, to ladies without children of their own. On a personal level the love one has for one’s children no matter the age and no matter the circumstances cannot really be adequately described. It is a sublime emotion. However being “motherly” is not only the domain of mothers who bear children. It is equally the important domain of those ladies who with no children of their own choose to chanel their natural motherly instincts for the good of the organisation to which they belong whether by profession or service, voluntary or otherwise. This helps in the grounding and human dimension of all such organisations and helps them flourish. So a Happy Mother’s day to all. #happymothersday

Found this article in Priya Parker’s newsletter (highly recommend) and totally get why adult sleepovers are catching on. Adult life today can feel like an overwhelming and lonely experience. That people are reimagining childhood traditions for adult life is no surprise. It’s like wanting to time travel back to when your life felt simple and you were allowed to be playful and simple and impetuous. When you could just be in one place and that place felt good. Maybe we should give ourselves more permission to revive childhood pleasures and reimagine children experiences? What do you think? #thetenpermissions #takeitoutside https://lnkd.in/dy_yj8kP

Wishing you all a wonderful Christmas! How do you tend to spend your Christmas Day - and is this year different? We tend to be in slightly different places/with different people each year, so one really important tradition we have is to have a family meeting, and talk about what we need to have the best Christmas Day ever. For some of us it might be about something we want to eat or drink, for others it might be about how/when we open gifts. For me this year it's about getting out for a walk! Getting outdoors helps my brain to reset, gives me some space and fresh air, and helps the kids to build up some of that pent-up energy from sitting around inside, not to mention all that gift opening! #workingmomproblems #happychildren #happychild #buildingconfidentkids #toddleractivities #parentingchallenges #choosinghappiness #balancedparenting #parentinghelp #childfriendly #positiveparentingcoach #parentingtools #mumsuk #toddlersofinstagram #expatparentingcoach #joyfulparenting #montessoriparis #positiveparentingtips #parentingexpert #mummyblogger #talktoyourkids #peacefulchristmas #familychristmas #lifecoach #survivingchristmas
