If you're a hiring manager and ever have a former teacher's resume cross your desk applying for a position. Here a few unique characteristics that you should note. Educators have a profound impact on the world in several ways: 1. **Empowering Individuals**: They provide knowledge and skills to students, equipping them to pursue their passions and make informed decisions. 2. **Fostering Critical Thinking**: Educators encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity, which are essential for addressing global challenges. 3. **Promoting Equality**: Education can be a powerful tool for reducing inequality by providing opportunities to all, regardless of background. 4. **Cultural Preservation**: Educators help preserve and transmit cultural knowledge and values to future generations. 5. **Social Change**: They inspire social change by teaching empathy, tolerance, and the importance of social justice. 6. **Innovation and Progress**: Educators nurture the next generation of innovators, scientists, and leaders who drive technological and societal progress. 7. **Global Perspective**: They broaden students' horizons, encouraging a global perspective and understanding of different cultures. 8. **Environmental Stewardship**: Educators can instill a sense of responsibility for the environment, promoting sustainability and conservation. 9. **Health and Well-being**: Educators can teach students about health and well-being, helping to improve overall health. Each time the word student is mentioned above, replace that with employee(s). Now picture that person as a member of your organization. Imagine what they can do for your mission. Industry experience is certainly important, and some applicants may lack those skills on there resume but the foundational characteristics of an educator will allow them to not only master any position but also become your organizations greatest investment. In these and many other ways, educators play a crucial role in shaping the world's future and making it a better place. So that former teacher could be the best employment decision you've ever made.

Reflecting on recent conversations i've had this week witth my contacts in the Education sector, it's evident that hiring remains a complex puzzle. 🧩 Budget constraints are tightening, leaving less room for manoeuvre. The post-pandemic era has reshaped expectations, with flexible working now a staple on the wish lists of potential staff. As for internal resources, they're spread thin, often diverting focus away from critical recruitment efforts. 🚧 By ensuring that schools are supported to find the right staff for the right roles, we can lay the groundwork for academic excellence and nurture promising futures. Because at the end of the day, success in education is all about the people behind the scenes. Let's keep the dialogue open and the ideas flowing. 💡 What's your take on overcoming these hurdles in educational recruitment? #EducationRecruitment #LocalTalent #FutureLeaders

What does it mean to you to engage in a participatory research approach? What does it feel like to foster a partnership where reciprocity, creativity and celebration are centered? How do you think it makes the research process more rigorous? The extraordinarily talented and committed Carla Ferguson and I worked together on the MyGoals research project, a strengths-based employment coaching program for public housing residents. She was the Houston Housing Authority supervisor and coach, and I was the MDRC technical assistance provider and site liaison. Based on our experience working together for four years, we have co-authored an article which outlines lessons we learned along the way. We hope the guiding principles we've developed, the MyGoals project examples we've shared, and reflection questions we've provided will be a launchpad to start or continue to develop your participatory approach, and, in the process, develop partnerships that enable rigorous research implementation and professionally fulfilling relationships that center respect and joy. We invite you to learn more about what we've identified as the Five Guiding Principles of Participatory Research that guided our collaboration in this research partnership. 1. Be transparent about decision-making power. 2. Unite around shared goals and values. 3. Foster interest in and a sense of co-ownership of the quality of implementation. 4. Support the staff through actions grounded in gratitude and empathy. 5. Provide structure to facilitate full participation. & we'd love to hear your thoughts on the article and how a participatory approach benefits your work! #research #participatorydesign #collaboration https://lnkd.in/gtuX-ZjE.

Does spending time working with their supervisors on tasks positively impact co-op students’ self-reported learning? Recent WxL research has found that when supervisors participate in students’ tasks, there are benefits to women’s self-reported learning. This was especially true for women who are new to the workforce. This is super important because research shows that early career women don’t often get to work alongside supervisors as much as men. So, what can supervisors do with this knowledge? WxL suggests supervisors create opportunities for more effective engagements during work terms (e.g., opportunities for collaboration, regular check-ins) for early career women. To learn more about co-op student – supervisor engagements during a work-term, read here: https://bit.ly/49qzbfd

Retaining high-quality teachers is a multifaceted challenge requiring nuanced strategies. To elaborate on these approaches: Offering competitive compensation and benefits: Beyond just salaries, benefits like healthcare, retirement plans, and additional perks demonstrate an institution's investment in its educators. This acknowledgment of their value goes a long way in retention. Providing professional development and growth opportunities: Continuous learning is vital. By offering avenues for skill enhancement, certifications, and career advancement, you not only empower teachers but also showcase your commitment to their long-term growth and success. Creating a supportive and collaborative culture: A nurturing environment where teachers feel respected, heard, and part of a team fosters loyalty. Encouraging collaboration among colleagues and providing platforms for idea sharing and support can significantly boost morale. Promoting teacher autonomy and voice: Trusting teachers with decision-making responsibilities and involving them in the school's strategic initiatives fosters a sense of ownership. Feeling heard and having a say in policies or curriculum enhances their commitment. Addressing teacher well-being and work-life balance: This is critical. Implementing policies that support mental health, offering flexible schedules, and recognizing the importance of maintaining a healthy work-life balance helps prevent burnout and retains talent. These strategies indeed have relevance across various careers, as they address fundamental human needs and professional aspirations. They're not just about retaining staff; they're about cultivating an environment where employees feel valued, supported, and motivated to excel. Such an approach transcends industries, benefiting any organization seeking to retain top talent. #JNM

Business Development Executive | Growth Strategist | IT Sales & Marketing| SEO Content Writer | QURAAN Tutor. I help Businesses grow through strategic development plans including Process Development & Management
In my opinion, a Matric level student should have exposure to Business Hierarchy and actual processes running in a company and their relationship. He should know: What is the purpose of IT, Finance, Admin, Marketing, Sales, HR Departments etc What is the JD of an IT or finance Manager etc, though the JD could vary from company to company but the core responsibility is same. Due to this exposure, the student would at least have some clarifications of how things work in reality than explained in books and on that basis, he/she can decide his/her career path or gain some practical experience with clear direction along with studies. Businesses, schools, colleges and even universities should organize such sessions or short trips for student knowledge & exposure as student don't know what's happening outside the university, college or school.
