when a company looks at hiring personnel they look at education, this can only give you the transferable skill of willing to learn. ( an example) person with a master in art being hired to be a traffic manager for a dc warehouse becuase they went to college. this has no skill set that is transferable into the job but when you value education over experience and knowledge you end up with someone that doesn't have the skill set to move forward you get someone that is capable and willing to learn but has a built in learning curve that can hurt the bottom line. In a time when people are spending vast time and money to achieve a position becuase they are willing to learn instead of experience for a life of working in the field, we take set backs in productivity and create cost for the company and their customers. looking at and to the vast work force already there can give life to growing and amerging experience already in your industry. when hiring for these roles look at what you have that can bennifit the company as a whole. and when it comes to management positions look the import personnel from other facilities in the company but not local as friendships in the area lead to inexperienced personnel moving forward to positions they have no qualifications for
