Our values are at the core of who we are and how we interact with the world. It determines what we find important and where we spend our time and money. When you are in conflict with someone, take a moment to understand their values and yours.  Ask them what is important to them and ask yourself what is important so you understand your own values as well. When you understand each other's values it does not necessarily mean you'll be on the same page, but you can create an understanding between you and the other person. And from there while keeping both sets of values in mind, you can work on making agreement to move forward in a way that works for both of you.
