Did you know that 3.6 million cases of child abuse are reported every year in the U.S. For every incident of child abuse or neglect that’s reported, an estimated two incidents go unreported. (childprotect.org) Over 40,000 child abuse cases were reported in Utah last year. (utahcjc.org) As celebrities such as Oprah Winfrey continue to be outspoken about the impact of childhood trauma on children, the outcome of unaddressed trauma into adulthood and the need for recovery programs, nonprofit organizations continue to advocate for the support of local communities to help child victims of crime recover in their own backyard. The health of our communities are the responsibility of us all. With a scarcity of therapy access and coverage, the friends nonprofit supporting the CJCSLCo, understands the need for holistic wellbeing pathways to offer some recourse for healing.
