Attending the Global Privacy Assembly conference this year? Be sure to connect with FPF CEO Jules Polonetsky, Vice President for Global Privacy Dr. Gabriela Zanfir-Fortuna, and Deputy Director for Global Privacy Bianca-Ioana M. at our official side event.
📅The “Two (too?) Hard Questions for Data Protection and Generative AI” side event will occur on Wednesday, October 30, from 2:30 – 4:00 pm GMT at the La Mare Wine Estate. Alongside Commissioners from leading privacy authorities around the world, we will explore the tricky world of generative AI and data protection through two key questions:
➡️ Can scraping data for training be done lawfully, and, if so, under what legal basis?
➡️ Do LLMs contain personal data and, if so, how do individual rights apply?
At the event, David Weinkauf, PhD (Senior IT Analyst, Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada/Commissariat à la protection de la vie privée du Canada) will give an expert presentation on the nuts and bolts of how LLMs work.
The event will also feature a panel discussion moderated by Bianca-Ioana M. with speakers Bertrand du Marais (Commissioner, CNIL - Commission Nationale de l'Informatique et des Libertés), Miriam Wimmer (Director, Autoridade Nacional de Proteção de Dados), Des Hogan (Commissioner, Data Protection Commission Ireland), Haksoo Ko (Chairperson, Personal Information Protection Commission, Korea), and Jules Polonetsky (CEO, Future of Privacy Forum).
