Happy to share that I have passed the exam and earned the IAPP - International Association of Privacy Professionals' AIGP certification (AI Governance Professional). Not for the faint hearted 😄 as the course explores multiple, overlapping domains from emerging legislation and existing regulations, technical and ethical aspects as well as risk management but the content is optimally structured and extremely interesting. Would this course and qualification make you an “AI expert”? No, it would not. Do I believe this is a course and qualification that all privacy professionals should consider? (Particularly if the course's content is delivered in person by Oliver Patel, AIGP, CIPP/E and Phil Lee) I certainly do: with the ubiquitous deployment and adoption of AI solutions and services, it feels paramount for privacy and information ethics pros to gain familiarity with the 7 domains covered by the #AIGP  Book of Knowledge and test what one has learned in the process. One of the bests post on AI and data protection compliance I have seen so far. Given the state of GDPR implementation in general and vendor interferences, some people will be sweating a lot on DPIAs.

I'm just about discovering "Privacy enhancing technologies" and it's amazing the elegance of really simple techniques like "secure multi-party computation" or say "federated learning", it's cousin in the ML world. I can think of so many collaborative projects - let's say a State wants to compile educational achievement stats, while certain private schools don't want to share granular student achievement data. The State can still stitch up the full picture with the said schools only sharing aggregate measures - mean, median, variance on various subjects/ measures, # of students in each class. The Data Security implications of something as simple as this are amazing ! - no more sending your data over the wire to central orgs/agencies who's data privacy /storage/governance maturity is undetermined, and much less chance of leaks! Expect to hear a lot more about stuff like this in the next months in Australia - the home of the Optus & other large scale data leaks, with the biggest overhaul to Privacy Legislation in 40 yrs, one that'll get us closely aligned with the gold standard EU GDPR (finally!) coming up in weeks! #privacy #datasecurity #governance #aigp #cipp #AI
