In Tulum, Quintana Roo, Mexico, a new residential development strives to reimagine where we live. Referred to as “habitable sculptures” the luxury residences put sustainability at the forefront of their design. Prioritizing natural night and integration into the surrounding jungle, the architects aspired to create a deep connection to the environment from within. While the project doesn’t have any noteworthy energy reduction methods in place or recycled materials within its design and construction, it does incorporate nature into its design which inherently, is better overall for human wellness. Rooftop gardens and terraces of native flora will enhance the living experience within the dwellings as well as provide a home for native wildlife. Luxury doesn’t have to be exclusive from sustainability, it should in fact be an inclusive aspect of it. We’re all in this together #sustainabledesign #rooftopgarden #mexico #tulum #ecoresort #sustainability #sustainablearchitecture #garden #gardening

Water Feature Consultant | Crafting Tranquility Through Design | Passionate About Creating Serene Spaces
In landscape design, the idea of water tranquilly frequently refers to the use of water elements to provide a calm and serene setting. These elements, which all aim to combine the calming images and sounds of water, can be anything from little fountains to big ponds or waterfalls. Any garden or outdoor area may benefit from the soothing background of a bubbling brook or the peaceful splashing of a fountain, which encourages guests to stop and think. The peaceful ambiance may be further enhanced by adding features like aquatic plants, smooth pebbles, and soft lighting, which turns the water feature into a haven for mindfulness and relaxation in addition to being a visual focus point.#adinnovations #urbandevelopment #fountains #waterfeature

This is a lovely example of good landscape design. It's a public space owned by a charitable trust – Hay Castle Trust. Its soft colour palette across the planting and hard materials reflect and compliment the stone and painted features of the building. The use of high quality materials adds to the feeling of permanence, history and longevity – this is a space that is designed, built and maintained to last the test of time and many pairs of feet. It just says: "we've been here a long time, we know what we're doing and what you want and we'll be doing this for many years to come!". The space is a very relaxed, low-key, high quality place with plenty of room for many people to be in without feeling that they're in a crowd – you can still have a quiet and private conversation without being overheard. Simple seating and tables give the opportunity for visitors to sit, chill out and drink more coffee. Being in the middle of this small picturesque town, I would think that they have many tourist visitors but also a lot of regular local visitors who frequently return for the space as well as the good coffee. Design of outdoor space is as important, if not more important (not at all biased!) than the building – it draws people in, holds them there and keeps them coming back. If you're planning any project that relies on attracting people again and again – make the landscape and its ongoing management key priorities and give them a healthy budget. #landscapearchitect #gardendesign #hayonwye #haycastle #haycastletrust #summerborder #plantingdesign

CHAPTER ONE FLOW LANDSCAPE | LANDSCAPE ARCHITETURE | BANGKOK Project Background: The unique multi-level landscape is quietly inspired by "the phenomenon of river" and reflects the site surroundings. Water "flows" from the top terrace to the ground. The story begins when the residents approach the garden. There are three main elements: the distinctive grass, the water feature, and the garden path. The water feature cascades down from the upper level, providing a wonderful sense of discovery and acoustic stimulation. Spatial Design and Design Features: The water cascade is perfectly designed in relation to the slope of the pathway, which is intended for disabled, elderly, and pedestrian access to the summit. A water feature is the focal point of the promenade, whether you are heading up or down it. Inspired by the river phenomena, water movements conceptually form the architectural framework, ranging from the gravitational force of the tidal wave to the captivating water flow. Captivated by the unique composition of landscape design components, the main garden's experiences are enclosed but contrast with its surrounds, enticing residents to take a tour across the garden. The landscape design incorporates a multi-leveled environment composed of water features, landforms, universally designed walkways, and feature pavilions. Water features (sense of hearing), grass meadows (feeling of touch), and a diversity of plants (sense of sight) all stimulate the human senses. Two playhouses sit on the platform, with the beautiful landscape serving as the garden's focal point. Residents can enjoy and admire the garden in various scenarios. In addition to the sloped route, there is a garden walk with steps. The grass meadow embraces this shortcut, producing a "soft touch" in the garden. The co-working pods are a feature of the landscape. It is on a different level and can provide a nice view. Sky Pool, a vanishing edge pool, is built as two pools within one pool concept, resulting in a lap pool and leisure pool. These two pools offer amazing views of the river and the city skyline. #architecture #landscapearchitecture #landscapedesign #landscape #design #architecturedesign #archdaily

One of the opportunities in any new landscape design is the elegant arrangement and intersection of lawns, beds, and paths. We call these nodes; places of pause where the visitor can take a breath, ponder a plant, or choose a new direction. Design is the differentiator - and that extends to landscaping. How fantastic is this tree? Landscape and lighting design can be as impactful to placemaking as the materials used on the building - but is an afterthought for many. Retail is in the details. Don’t underestimate the power of landscaping and lighting. It adds character and charm, and improves the guests experience. It will drive traffic, dwell time, leasing momentum, sales and rents. If you’ve been to Santana Row you know how valuable it is. Think of all the little pieces that make this property great. Would this project be the same without the lush trees, public spaces and patio scene running through the middle of it? Can’t be done at every center - but embrace it where you can! There are little ways to do it too.
