International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women This year, we are proud to amplify Oxfam’s campaign: Feminist Solutions for a Fair World under the hashtag #UniteForFairChange. This initiative calls for a feminist power shift to combat systemic violence rooted in patriarchy, capitalism, and racism – and to create a world where care, well-being, and freedom are prioritized over profit and privilege. The campaign envisions a future free from gender-based violence, where women, girls, and queer people are valued and empowered in economic, climate, and social policies. How you can get involved: 👉 Explore and share the campaign visuals 👉 Amplify the message using the hashtag #UniteForFairChange. 👉 Collaborate, discuss, and stand together for feminist and decolonial solutions that place people and the planet above profit. Today, on the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, we honour the memory of the 14 women whose lives were tragically taken in 1989 at École Polytechnique, and we stand in solidarity with all those who have experienced gender-based violence. As a society, we must continue to address the systemic barriers and cultural norms that perpetuate violence against women. Through education, advocacy, and action, we can create safer spaces, ensure equity, and inspire change. Let us reaffirm our commitment to building a world where all women can thrive, free from violence and discrimination. Together, we have the power to drive change. 💜 #December6 #16days

Cities should be places of opportunity and inclusion, yet for many women, urban spaces come with disproportionate risks of gender-based violence. From unsafe public transit to a lack of accessible and secure spaces, these challenges hinder women’s mobility, safety, and ability to thrive in cities. UN-Habitat is addressing these inequities through safe mobility initiatives and participatory urban design projects. By working with communities to identify risks and implement solutions, we can create urban environments where young women can live, work, and move safely. Urban equity reduces violence and fosters inclusive communities . Safety for women isn’t just a women’s issue—it’s essential for building stronger, more resilient cities for all. We should 🔹 Advocate for safer transit systems 🔹 Promote gender-responsive urban planning 🔹 Create public spaces that empower women and girls Safe cities empower women. Empowered women strengthen cities. #UrbanEquity #SafeCities #GenderEquality #EndGBV

Gender-based violence remains a pressing issue worldwide, affecting countless lives and leaving deep scars in our communities. Today, I stand firm in my commitment to ending this injustice and fostering a world where equality and safety prevail for everyone, regardless of their gender. In this spirit, I am thrilled to invite you to **“Do It for Her,”** an impactful event taking place on **December 7th at the Onomo Hotel**. This gathering will be more than just a conversation—it’s a call to action. Together, we’ll explore strategies, share stories, and collaborate to create tangible solutions that protect, empower, and uplift women everywhere. I firmly believe that real change begins with collective effort. Let’s unite our voices, our ideas, and our strength to build a better future for HER, for HIM, for ALL. Save the date, spread the word, and join us in making a difference. Because the fight against gender-based violence is a fight we must win—together. On Day 12 of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence, Silent No More (SNoM), emphasises the profound impact of including women and young women in decision-making processes that foster sustainable peace and address gender-based violence. When women participate in economic decision-making at all levels—whether within households, communities, or on national platforms—they contribute to more resilient and equitable societies. Their involvement strengthens political governance in post-conflict settings, ensuring that recovery and development strategies are inclusive, effective, and reflective of diverse perspectives. By empowering women as key stakeholders, we create a foundation for lasting peace and social transformation. #16DaysOfActivism #OrangeTheWorld #EndGenderBasedViolence #NoExcuse #lendyourvoiceandbesilentnomore
