Beverage Can Ends are formed from a coil of aluminum, typically aluminum alloy 5182-H48, first forming process happens in a shell press to create plain aluminum shells and then shells transferred to another press that converts them to easy open ends. Here, the master batch is mixed with sulfur, preparing it for the manufacturing and curing process. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝘂𝗹𝗳𝘂𝗿. It is the key ingredient that facilitates curing, also known as vulcanization, of rubber. The meticulous addition and thorough mixing of sulfur enhance the rubber's hardness and elasticity. 𝗧𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹. The introduction of sulfur makes temperature control paramount. An increase in temperature could lead to premature vulcanization, an outcome that must be carefully avoided. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗞𝗻𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿. It is in this context the Kneader is chosen as the preferred device for finalization. Esteemed for its ability to maintain the right temperature, it safeguards the master batch from exceeding vulcanization limits prematurely. 🔎 The physical properties of a high-performance rubber fender depend not only on the rubber compound's quality but also on the correct material handling and equipment choice during the mixing process. What is powder coating and how does it work? Powder coating is a type of finish that can be applied to metal parts. Powder (that has an electrostatic charge) is applied to a grounded part via a spray gun. The coated part is then cured in a specialized oven using heat. While the powder cures, the pigments mixed with resins within the powder chemically react. Once the part comes out of the oven, it cools to create a hardened, durable coat. #APS used GEMCO’s #Formulator to tackle the metal powder blending challenge. The customers’ products consisted of tungsten, nickel, and iron, which have different particle sizes and densities. They had a problem achieving a uniform and quality mix. While trying to print the material, they could see that the powder was different in color and could not get the right ratio of materials they planned. The goal was simple: to see if GEMCO’s formulator could improve blending and powder flow. APS used a 3CF Formulator, a versatile machine that can perform multiple functions in one unit. The process consisted of blending and drying. #Safety was a top priority. Since metal powders are combustible and an explosion hazard, APS took precautions. They purged the machine with nitrogen to prevent fire or explosions and followed all safety rules.
