I'll join the panel "Can Power Grids Support Large Scale Electrolyser Installations?", where I will also discuss the opposite. How can electrolysers support the power grid? I'll focus on the growing need for flexibility in the power grid and why it is a good idea to provide it (a hint: the LCOH can most likely be reduced significantly)! World Hydrogen Leaders

Huge congratulations in order to Liz Ramsay Dalton and GTI Energy for getting the HyVelocity Hub to this key milestone! When the #InflationReductionAct was passed, several of our trading partners from Europe, Asia, and elsewhere were concerned that the hydrogen provisions in the law were too generous. My response was always that clean hydrogen is still a nascent industry with lots of challenges to be overcome, from establishing demand, to manufacturing components at scale, to upskilling a workforce, to developing the transportation infrastructure. There's also the uncertain permitting and regulatory environment - hopefully we'll see clarity from the Biden Administration soon on the final rules around the IRA's 45V Clean Hydrogen Production tax credit to address that. In light of these challenges, I see greater risk in doing too little than in doing too much. DOE moving forward with the clean hydrogen hubs like HyV is a huge step in the right direction to starting to tackle some of these challenges by unlocking massive private investment in the sector.

Volts in China: Battery Disruption Tour On August 12th, the Volts team is kicking off their 10-day tour in China! We’re thrilled to meet with the most progressive and groundbreaking battery and energy storage companies. Moreover, we have an extensive program lined up to visit and audit potential partners for building our gigafactory in the UAE. The plan is to discuss with the Chinese representatives the potential scaling scheme of our partnership. Together, we need to decide the best ways to develop new markets and change the world’s perception of domestic and commercial energy storage systems. We are persuaded that the world’s future lies in the passionate countries of the Middle East, Africa, Southeast Asia, South America, and the CIS. After all, these are the nations whose people must take the initiative, innovate, and forge their own new future independently rather than relying on the capital earned by their wealthy ancestors. During the trip, we will sign a number of memorandums of intent outlining cooperative endeavors between us and leading Chinese companies. We will deliberate on partnerships within the framework of integrating commercial energy storage systems into our projects in the UAE and Azerbaijan. Another leading topic will be the exponential development of the global market for home energy storage systems. We are absolutely convinced that in the near future, an energy storage system in the house will become as commonplace as a refrigerator and a washing machine.
