It’s always exciting to see the work we do at the Brotherhood of St Laurence (BSL) across so many areas. This new report features more work around sustainability, which is exciting! Recently, both the BSL and my Environment studies have made me rethink how we approach measuring poverty in Australia. There is so much potential in developing broader poverty indexes that include key factors directly affecting quality of life. For example, we know that climate change impacts all Australians, with low-income households likely to be hit the hardest. It's time to incorporate this understanding into measuring what matters.
