Today I've got a simple task for the goat crew. An alternative to the age-old advertising exercise of sell me this pen. You can sell anything. Sell me this ******* pen right here. You can sell anything. Sell that. Sell me this water. You're thirsty. Are you thirsty? Do you know what percentage of your body is water? I don't but drink water. This is the finest water on earth from the taps of the goats office. Well, it's delicious. You firstly. You're thirsty. You're thirsty, right? I mean, do you wanna live to see another day? It doesn't seem that easy to sell this. So the question is, how do you differentiate water? Liquid Death, the unconventional water brand that slaying the social game. I use Liquid Death Mountain water. In my unleashing a big personality in bold, aggressive and irreverent fashion, they've stuck a big two fingers up to advertisers, claiming an ability to cut through the noise. Goodbye bland marketing messaging. Hello memorable and shareable content. So what would I do if I was given a can of Liquid Death? I'll be honest, I just wanted an excuse to use the chainsaw. Oh, I should have been wearing my protective goggles. What? That was exciting. Differentiating in a crowded marketplace was obviously crucial for a brand like Liquid Death. And they aren't just a bit different, they do everything differently. It's in the brands DNA from their incredibly surreal merch like the Steve O voodoo doll which had his real hair inside. They sold out immediately to the Martha Stewart Liquid Death candle they're now selling on eBay, to their copywriting. Murderously good mountain water, new flavour, convicted melon. Even their e-mail marketing defies the usual staleness that plagues our inboxes. As the beverage is creative director Andy Pearson wrote for The Drum, why let beer, energy drinks and soda continue to have all the fun? 2 Right Andy? For Liquid Death, usual marketing parameters just don't apply and I feel like we're kindred spirits in that regard. What's the go? Agency may be less aggressive in its marketing efforts. We have done our best to circumvent the standard tropes that make for sleep inducing flowering. These social marketeers are cottoning on to the potential of care. Well, the impression of pocket. It's just as considered as traditional strategies. But here's the difference. They get their audiences. They know where they spend their time and how they like to consume advertising. By building their community around podcasts and the stand up comedy scene, Liquid Death have been able to explore themes and tones not usually explored in marketing. Basically, let the reverence reign supreme. So let's end this episode with a bit of water pong we're going to play. Water pong with some liquid death. Great company. Can you catch? Oh my God.
