The earliest years of children's lives lay the foundation for their social and emotional well-being, setting the stage for success in school and beyond. For parents, caregivers and educators, it's crucial to prioritize and nurture the mental health of children in their care. In this article, Dr. Lauren Loquasto, our chief academic officer, and Dr. Kyle Pruett, a member of our Educational Advisory Board, share insight and actionable guidance to support children's mental well-being.

"Experts cite numerous reasons for this epidemic of youth mental distress, including the rise of cyberbullying, the trauma of school shootings and everyday violence in neighborhoods, many more kids coming out as gender nonconforming and facing peer harassment, and the crushing pressure many teens feel to excel academically so they can get into top colleges. It’s clear that we need to work much harder and better to support our children’s emotional well-being. School seems a natural place to focus energies, and some child health specialists think mental health days are a good way to begin." Read the feature here: https://bit.ly/47vgzLj

I Am Now Offering Child & Youth Counselling Services! Hi everyone, I am now offering child & youth counselling & therapy services for ages 7-13 years-old! As I am delving more into my professional journey & developing a greater knowledge of understanding trauma, and mental health; we need to lay the groundwork for future generations. What this means is that it is vital for children and youth to develop their relationship with their mental health (and everything surrounding it). These include providing mental health education, teaching them (and ourselves) emotional regulation, developing increased self-awareness, and empowering youth to know they have their own choices to make (fostering a level of confidence and independence). As adults, can we provide the support, unconditional love, empathy, & non-judgment that they need to be able to comfortably explore the world around them, develop their values, embrace their curiosity, and attain a level of autonomy while also knowing how important cultivating and maintaining relationships are for their well-being It is vital that we lay the foundations of mental health in younger generations.

I undertook a Rise Self-Study Course discussing mental health in children and young people. This course taught me how to maintain personal, professional and protective boundaries when working with children and young people, as well as the challenges these individuals are faced with throughout their lives. I aim to use this knowledge and apply it to my future career prospects, as I feel this has helped me understand children and young peoples mental health in detail. #humansofmcrmetrise

🌟 Looking After Your Mental Health When Working in the Early Years 🌟 Rageena Tahir, Director of Early Years, talks about the importance of Looking After Your Mental Health When Working in the Early Years While our focus often revolves around children's well-being, imparting emotional awareness, coping strategies, and resilience, we sometimes find it challenging to apply these principles to ourselves. The concept of emotional literacy, now a fundamental part of children's education, prompts us to ask why we sometimes struggle to manage our own emotions as adults.
