Why we love early childhood education properties: projected sector growth and federal backing. 🌟 The global Early Childhood Education Market was estimated at USD 245 Billion in 2019 and is expected to reach USD 480 Billion by 2026. 🌟 The American Families Plan will make transformational investments from early childhood to post-secondary education so that all children and young people are able to grow, learn, and gain the skills they need to succeed. It will provide universal, high-quality preschool to all three- and four-year-olds. Regarding our Children of America property in Lakewood, Illinois specifically, it is a strong real estate investment due to the state of Illinois' assistance in childcare costs. wNC childcare experts react to emergency childcare funding ASHEVILLE, N.C. (FOX Carolina) - North Carolina legislators recently passed a $67.5 million stopgap bill to help keep the doors of childcare centers across the state open. The emergency funds look to help as federal funding came to a stop at the end of June, but it’s still far less than the $300 million many child care advocates wanted from the state. “It’s not enough money,” said Western North Carolina Early Childhood Coalition (WNC ECC) Director Greg Borom. Borom explained that the childcare crisis affects all North Carolinians, whether they have children or not, because it makes a big impact in the state’s overall economy. Lightcast recently published "The Rising Storm: Building a Future-Ready Workforce to Withstand the Looming Labor Shortage" and summarizes some of our imminent challenges into categories of Boomer retirements, our workforce growth is misaligned with demand, and automation isn't going to catch up with the population decline anytime soon. Meanwhile, Indiana loses out on $4.2B annually due to child care shortage. Hundreds of thousands of Hoosier children need high-quality early learning experiences. With fewer future college grads coming down the pipeline, we're not providing the best educational opportunities to one of our most powerful resources. And parents are being forced out of the active workforce. We're going to have to invest in our local workforces, which will include decreasing child care shortages so more parents, especially women will rejoin the workforce. Child care providers need your support - at every level. I've been serving on the board at New Beginnings Child Care (Crawfordsville, IN) for several years now. The "business" model will never be sustainable without outside contributions or without pricing families out of child care. "Extending licensing requirements" on existing providers is 100% not the answer. With smaller graduating of classes of college students, being more open to hiring international graduates (and empowering your HR departments to do so) will help you offset the difference in qualified, talented entry-level candidates in your pool. I can assure you, if you're not looking at the international students in our US colleges, you're missing out on some of your best future employees. To hire international interns is so much easier than you may think. What a great way to vet a future full-time hire, risk-free. I'm encouraged by so much happening in my local business ecosystem, but there is so much more to do. We can figure this out, Hoosiers. A new Child Trends factsheet highlights the ways in which policy changes to Maryland’s Child Care Scholarship Program changed how families receiving child care subsidies accessed early care and education programs (ECE). Findings suggest that these policy changes enabled families to access higher quality ECE and increased the number of child care providers with a higher quality rating. https://buff.ly/4aHY4UL

Extreme heat is impacting child care centers across the country, putting young children at risk. As temperatures rise, outdoor playtime becomes limited, and indoor conditions can become uncomfortable. This challenge is making it harder for centers to provide safe, engaging environments for early learning. The average American family spends nearly a quarter of its household income on child care, a cost that can surpass rent or mortgages – if parents can even access care. This has led to what is known as the "childcare crisis," a situation where many working parents are struggling to find affordable childcare. With federal COVID-relief funds expiring, skyrocketing childcare costs, and increasing staffing shortages, the childcare crisis is prompting both public agencies and private businesses to seek innovative solutions. These solutions include on-site childcare for employees, local ballot initiatives, tax financing, and other creative funding models. At Dallas Afterschool, we partner with over 270 out-of-school time programs to offer safe, high-quality programs for children and provide working parents –especially mothers who face difficult choices between their careers and quality care – with peace of mind.
