*GOOD JOB ALERT: TIGER TACTICIAN ($21.56 EST)* It's highly apropos that LTB big cat rescue is looking for a caretaker on this International Tiger Day. If you're not familiar with the sanctuary, it's definitely worth a few minutes in the rabbit hole. The owners and the animals are local celebs - well known and loved for all they do and all they are. It's not often a great position comes open, so if you are an animal husband this is the time to pounce. You'll generally clean and coddle the kitties while also keeping undisclosed ungulates. You must be quick on your feet and sharp of wit. Safety is always a concern as dangers can be unexpected. Still, it's a roar of an opportunity for the right person. Just don't ask about the predecessor. https://lnkd.in/g7ns-t4C #goodjob #sandiegojobs #animalhusbandry #zookeeper #lionstigersbears #animalsanctuary #bigcatrescue #wildatwork

Let’s help some elephants! Because the welfare of every captive wild animal matters. Joyce is an elephant at a theme park in New Jersey, US, who has suffered a life of trauma. She saw most of her herd killed in a culling operation in Zimbabwe, before being ‘rescued’, shipped to the US… …and then regularly passed around between zoos, circuses, and other captive attractions. 🐘 A link to a short film about her life and the actions you can take is provided in the comments. It is not possible to meet the complex physical, social, and spatial needs of elephants in a zoo setting. With elephants having well-known sensitivity to vibrations, it is not appropriate for them to be located closely to roller coasters. Quite frankly, I don’t think we would enjoy that either. Wild animals don’t exist to amuse us, to serve as 'ambassadors' for their species, or to educate us. They exist to have their own lives. All it takes is someone at this theme park to say yes - to immediately work with one of the three US-based sanctuaries that care for elephants to release Joyce (and other elephants) to their care. Please help World Animal Protection US and take action now! This is a real opportunity to put a stop to this. #elephantwelfare #wildanimalwelfare The views expressed in my posts are my own and do not reflect the views of my employer.

There are several things to consider when treating varroa. This is maybe the common ground of all my posts in this #BeeAdvent. You need to take informed decisions, put a bit of effort into it. That doesn't need to be stressful. I'm convinced that knowledge and applying it gives you control, or better: Let's you see what you can control and what not. So, it shows you the options, what you can do. I often think that one of the issues of #beekeeping and #varroa comes from that it was "out of sight" of animal husbandry for such a long time. But it is animal husbandry. Even more so in regions where honey bees aren't native. As a beekeeper, you have the responsibility for the well-being of your colonies. This means to learn and apply continuously. Yes, effort and work. But it gives you more control of what you're doing. More on what to know about #varroacides and the story behind them in this blog post: https://lnkd.in/e2aXzdcn

Christ driven influencer, advocate and soldier for a "Reverence for Life" , the ethos that is the love of Jesus bestowed universally. Blogger and Author of the For Our Friends the Animals quartet. Cancer survivor!
#children #killing #cruelty #socialmedia #anthropocentrism #life #love #reverenceforlife #loveofJesus My dear friends in a reverence for life, I must confess to not being a huge fan of Crosby, Stills, etc., although I did like “Ohio” when it premiered. That said, the lyrics of Teach Your Children seem somewhat apt when contrasted with today’s tale of human perfidy and savagery committed against God’s creatures. First a representative sample of the lyrics: “Teach your children well Your father's hell did slowly go by And feed them on your dreams The one they pick's the one you'll know by.” Unfortunately, as the lurid story infra recounts, the parent’s hell seems greedily grasped by the offspring, not only grasped but presently surpassed. We learn that in the UK (no doubt this vile comportment is ubiquitous) groups of urchins are torturing and killing animals with catapults (US slingshots), then placing evidentiary snippets of their wantonness on social media for the world to behold. Predictably the panacea for this aberrant behavior is our old friend, more laws: “Mr Smith [MP] said: ‘Until a few people are convicted of using catapults for inflicting great suffering on animals, and they face the consequences of that in law, then there won’t be a deterrent to stop other people from engaging in this sick activity.’” My dear friends, this juvenile behavior should come as no surprise to anyone. It is a logical outgrowth of the human deportment practiced by parents and ancestors for millennia. These young people witness the killing of animals by their family members in every possible way: Hunting, fishing, animal ag, zoo and other animal restraints, trapping, animal testing, dog fighting, bull fighting, indiscriminate animal breeding, and the beat goes on. All of these sordid activities are not only displayed on social media, they’re largely condoned by all human institutions, including yours, Mr. MP. What have we taught our children? That God’s other creatures are positioned here for our pleasure, diversion, and ultimate exploitation. The villainy depicted in the piece infra is but one manifestation of human arrogance, ignorance, and indifference. More laws are not the answer. The only remediation is a sea change in mankind’s ethos, in our estimation of the worth and value of God’s creation, of nature. Our assessment must metamorphose from a position of dominance and misuse, to a position of service and enhancement. We must assign to ourselves the solemn duty of stewardship of all of our fellow beings on this planet. We must willingly and immediately assume the commission to protect, assist, and enhance life, all life. That is bestowing the love of Jesus universally. That is a reverence for life. That is such stuff as dreams should be made on.
Primary school children are filming themselves killing and torturing wild animals including swans, deer and squirrels then sharing the grisly videos on WhatsApp in ‘sick’ nation-wide ‘trend’

ANIMALS SHOWING REAL LOVE Animals can really care about each other. All kinds of animals feel love. They take care of their families and friends just like we do. Doesn't it feel good when your pet dog wags its tail or a cat purrs on your lap? Animals can make us feel better too. They help us when we're sad or lonely. Some animals stay friends for life, like horses that live together in a herd. Dogs are very loyal and never leave their owners. Cats work as a team to raise their kittens. Animals protect each other no matter what. Have you seen a mother bear defend her babies? They don't care about being different types - like a dog and cat that become pals. Love brings animals together. When times are tough, animals stick by each other. They find ways to help and comfort each other through hard times. Doesn't that show how strong love can be? Even when animals can't talk, they still care for each other a lot. Their love crosses boundaries. This should inspire us to be kind to all living things. Stories of animal love remind us how connected everything is. It's great that we can learn from them. So appreciate your pets, and respect all animals too! Their love makes the world a little brighter. #animals #animalwelfare
