New proposal has been posted related to allowing Industrial Conservation Initiative (ICI) market participants to enter into power purchase agreements (PPAs): "The types of technologies that would be eligible under the proposal are wind, solar, hydroelectric and biofuel. The Ministry recognizes the interest in pairing these technologies with energy storage and the inclusion of nuclear small modular reactors (SMRs), however due to the complexity to implement these additional technologies they will be considered at a future date." "The Ministry is particularly interested in stakeholder feedback as it pertains to the mechanics of financial settlement (including peak demand factor calculations) under the proposed amendments. The Ministry is also interested in stakeholder feedback on the implementation of a proposed requirement that new generation facilities obtain a local municipal support resolution stating support for the new generation facility on their municipal lands in order to be eligible under the proposed amendments, and a potential restriction on locating new generation facilities on prime agricultural lands. The anticipated effective date for the proposed amendments is May 1, 2025." #onpoli #energy

Germany confirms plan to float tender for 12.5 GW H2-ready gas power plants, will subsidize up to 10% capacity utilization. First-phase tenders by later 2024 or early 2025. · New H2-ready gas Power plant of 5 GW capacity · H2-ready upgrade of 2 GW of existing Gas power plants · All plants must convert to H2 from eighth year from commissioning or modernization. · Plus 500 MW plant running on pure Hydrogen from start · Plus 500 MW industry-scale batteries for long term storage Second phase of another 5 GW gas power plant will follow, to start operation from 2028. Use of Hydrogen and other criteria not clarified yet. Subsidy plan: Investment costs and the difference in operating costs between hydrogen and natural gas will be subsidized for 800 full-load hours per year (up to 10% capacity factor) once the switch to hydrogen is made. Location: The plants will predominantly be built in southern Germany, where much of the country's industrial complex is located, to enhance grid stability and cut costs. #germany #hydrogen

More and more coal plant investment leaving the Western countries holding the “Green” bag and going broke because of it. From Powermag.com “India Supports $33 Billion Investment in New Coal-Fired Generation Government officials in India have reportedly asked the country’s power companies to spend billions on equipment to support additional coal-fired generation. India is looking for ways to more quickly increase its baseload electricity supply as demand for power increases across the country. Reuters news service on July 3 said the Indian government supports tenders for as much as $33 billion of new equipment, from both state-run and private generation groups. Sources told Reuters that companies such as government-owned NTPC and SJVN, along with private groups such as Adani Power and Essar Power, would be asked to add as much as 31 GW of new electricity supply through the end of the decade.

After hearing a few days ago that #NOVATEK's proposed #MurmanskLNG Project faces some regulatory delays, here's a small update on the project's potential source of power, the Kola nuclear-power plant (pictured). Kola NPP prepares energy for #NOVATEK's #LNG project Power engineers at Kola NPP are already calculating how to increase the facility's capacity to ensure supplies to #NOVATEK's planned #MurmanskLNG plant. Kola NPP, located in Murmansk Region, is developing options for extending the operating period of two of its four power units (1st and 2nd) until 2037–2038 to guarantee the necessary energy for #NOVATEK's #LNG plant. This was reported by Vasiliy Omelchuk, director of Kola NPP. He noted that the Russian Ministry of Energy has assured the Murmansk authorities of guarantees for gasification of the region. Furthermore, an #LNG project will appear in Murmansk Region, and it will require energy capacities of up to 900 MW. In the future, according to Omelchuk, the Kola NPP may consider extending the operating period of the 3rd and 4th power units - until 2041 and 2044. The Kola NPP provides up to 60% of the energy consumed in Murmansk Region. #NOVATEK plans to launch an #LNG project in the region. But first, a 1300-kilometre pipeline must be built to Murmansk so that the new project has a supply of feed gas for #liquefaction. It is planned to also gasify Murmansk Region using gas supplied by the same pipeline. #KolaNPP Source: #NOVATEK's Belokamenka #VK Page

🍀 🍀 Wison’s Floating Green Methanol Plant was Approved in Principle by Bureau Veritas Bureau Veritas (" BV ") issued Approval in Principle (AIP) to #Wison Offshore &Marine (" WOM") for its Floating Green Methanol Plant (#FGMP) solutions at Marintec, Shanghai, China on December 6, 2023. This recognition signifies the technical feasibility of WOM's solutions and prepares for future commercial and industrial applications. The floating green methanol plant(FGMP)developed by WOM is to use renewable energy and the carbon dioxide (CO2) captured to produce green methanol. Compared with the onshore methanol plant, the FGMP has high system integration and small footprint, which is easy to deploy, highly flexible and far away from communities and to realize safety and environmental protection. Mr. Zhou Nan, General Manager of WOM’s Product Technology Center, stated, “Future energy utilization will pivot towards renewable energy and nuclear power. WOM, as a leading clean energy technology and solution provider, is committed to providing efficient integrated EPCIC solutions for the energy industry.” For more details about the FGMP developed by WOM and green methanol, please visit https://lnkd.in/gghWJYQ5 to learn more. #Wison #bureauveritas #FGMP #offshoreenergy #methanol #greenenergy
