The California solar industry seems so preoccupied with finger-pointing the CPUC for their struggles that I'm concerned it's making a tough market cycle even worse. Failing to meet the moment will not only be devastating for the CA solar market but also kneecap clean energy targets. CPUC is profit-focused and NEM3 was about securing their future revenue. But that goes without saying and isn't shocking or surprising to anyone. The least of all to solar companies that've consistently positioned themselves in the market as competition to the status quo. Has NEM3 made solar installations more challenging in CA, Yes. But it would be dishonest to lay the full challenge of the moment on the CPUC while disregarding that many solar operators not only contributed to but exacerbated the challenges they're facing, leading to the current max-pain environment for the industry. I could share the numerous reasons and examples of how solar operators hurt themselves, but like finger-pointing the CPUC, looking backwards is a distraction from the critical question solar companies need to answer to survive: How do we adapt to new market conditions and dynamics to offer the consumer more value? Every change in the market ends opportunities for one while creating a new opportunity for another. Solar companies need to be talking about where the next opportunity is for them to provide value to the market. So many solar companies saw the IRA and stopped reading after the ITC solar and battery credit, and you did yourself such a disservice. Similarly, if you spoke to your customers about the good they were doing for the climate without ever addressing decarbonization, you were doing a disservice. Yes, NEM3 has created market challenges for solar operators. And great companies have always been defined by their ability to pivot and adapt. The question for the industry isn't who's at fault, but how will we meet the challenge of the moment to better serve the market and deliver more value than we did before? #ira #electrfication #solar #contractors #NEM3 #CPUC #IOU #solareenrgy #ess #eaas #vpp #ders
Dear California Solar Industry: Have you recently lost your job due to NEM 3? Or did your company recently go bankrupt or leave the state for a better market? I would like to connect with you to hear your story. Please reach out via LinkedIn or email me at bernadette at calssa dot org.

Land acquisition for wind and solar projects is far easier in the North of Germany than in the South 🇩🇪 Why? In the past, Northern German families passed down their land in its entirety to the eldest son. Meanwhile, land was divided equally amongst family members in the South of Germany meaning plots got smaller and smaller. Therefore #projectdevelopers need to negotiate with far less land owners in the North, making their job much easier. Here’s a list of #wind and #solarenergy project developer positions open in the North of Germany! ⬇ Just DM or email our consultants stating the role you’re interested in to receive a detailed job description. P.S. Share this post with someone that could benefit from it 📲

Vice President at Evergreen Talent Partners | Leading Sustainable Talent Acquisition and Strategy #cleanenergy #talentsolutions #renewables #houseplants
"Remember, you don't know how to whisper" My wife leans across and tells me this while we're at a concert on the weekend. She's right, it's a weakness and I still don't quite understand how I can't and what a whisper really is. Luckily, a lot of what I do is shout about top talent and new opportunities in the #greeneconomy, so whispering is a lesser needed skill for me. Today, sharing details of a terrific individual, with both a deep academic grounding in Solar Engineering and a wealth of practical application experience across the project development lifecycle, this seasoned renewables professional is exploring their next role in performance engineering and project management. Bringing most value to project execution within the Developer and IPP space, this individual is a talented technical advisor and Project Manager. From modelling to workstreams that maximize valuation, they bring sound due diligence and technical advice to a project portfolio as well as a lot of experience navigating WECC queue reforms, permitting and PPAs. Actively seeking their next opportunity. Interested in this individual on paper? - Reach out to james.canosa@evergreentalentpartners.com to discuss them in detail. #solarengineering #solarpower #renewables

"Wind techs out of the gate can make about $60,000 annually, according to Laramie County Community College Wind Energy Technology Program instructor Steve Hrkach. Add three years of experience to that, and the salary jumps significantly to $75,000 annually. Wind techs who want to travel, meanwhile, can do even better with per diems of up to $250 a day for living expenses. That’s a nontaxable sum, Hrkach added, paid on top of their salary. That makes turbine technician a six-figure salary, readily achievable even at entry levels." https://lnkd.in/eRTPXsHK #wyoming #windpower #jobs

Where are you looking for your next hire? Is the perimeter you've set yourself excluding potential contributors from benefiting your company's development? It's a tough question, but one worth asking. As Dillon Cane from Two Blues Solar explains, looking outside the renewable energy sector for talent has actually increased the level of diversity and creativity in the company's decision making process. #lookoutside #talent #renewablesjobs
