#SUDEPActionDay2024 1 out of every 150 people with poorly controlled seizures or epilepsy die from SUDEP. Before April 7, 2024, I was unaware of SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death from Epilepsy). It wasn't until my brother passed away in his sleep that we learned seizures can lead to this risk. If you know anyone with seizures or epilepsy, please inform them about SUDEP and discuss it with their neurologist. Taking proactive steps can reduce risks and potentially save lives. There are resources out there, it’s a matter of having a conversation first. While it's too late for Jaaden, we can all help others avoid a similar fate. In honor of Jaaden Steward and others who have passed from SUDEP, the Steward family will be hosting a kickball fundraising event on Nov. 16th. We invite all who can to participate. Superbowl Squares for the kids! In an effort to raise money for the Miles for Miracles Team from Boston Children's Hospital for the 2024 Boston Marathon I am lucky to run in, I am doing a Superbowl squares fundraiser to support these brave kids! $20 per square, 50% of the proceeds supports his fundraising goal, and 50% goes to the winners following each quarter ($250 for 1st, 2nd, 3rd quarters and final score). How it works: Once all the squares have been selected, we will randomly pick numbers from 0-9 for each team in the Super Bowl, and assign that number to a particular row or column. These numbers represent the last number in the score of each team. In other words, if the score is AFC 17 - NFC 14, then the winning square is the one with an AFC number of 7, and an NFC number of 4. Since this is a Fund Raiser, 50% of the proceeds will go to the Charity Organization, and the other 50% will be distributed among the Users with a Winning Square. TRYING TO GET EXTRACURRICULARS ON FOR R1 The ideal is to have ECs that don’t immediately flag “I’m trying to get into b-school by doing this.” Choose something that is a natural extension of your experience or background. If you’re already into football/soccer - how about helping underprivileged children find the means to play soccer after school? Another option is to pick something aligned with your goal as stated in the application. And, if possible, pick something that will culminate in some observable/anecdotal or quantifiable positive impact. For example, a being on the board/committee of a fundraiser that takes place before your application deadline. Would ideally provide a good story that illustrates your character, and helps them get to know you as a person, if used for an essay or interview response.
