Do you have a role to play in spreading the message that domestic and family violence (DFV) is not acceptable in our community? May is DFV Prevention Month and we’re looking for 50 businesses to lead by example. (But we need you to sign up now, so we hit our target in May!😂) We need your help, to: • raise community awareness of DFV and its impacts; • promote a clear message that domestic and family violence is not tolerated in our communities; and • raise money for The Haven to house and support over 44 women and 113 children per year. You can make an impact. Sign up now as a fundraiser and we’ll be in contact to discuss what you can do in the month of May to help. Trigger Warning: This post discusses themes of family and domestic violence. If these topics are triggering or distressing for you, it may be best to skip this post. In Australia, an average of 110 people lose their lives to domestic and family violence each year. This staggering statistic reminds us of the urgent need for change. This May, in honour of Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month, SPS Facilities is proud to participate in the Darkness to Daylight event. By joining Challenge DV's Darkness to Daylight, we are taking a stand, driving community awareness, supporting intervention efforts, and raising crucial funds to prevent domestic and family violence. Every step we take honours these lives and helps to create change. Support us by donating to our fundraising page: https://lnkd.in/gwgBpZGZ Every contribution, big or small, brings us one step closer to a future without domestic violence. Together, we can turn darkness into daylight. 💜🌞 #DomesticViolenceAwareness #DarknessToDaylight #SPSFacilities #SupportTheCause #MakeADifference #endDFV #DFVPM2024 #ChallengeDV

We are stronger when we walk together, When a woman leaves a violent partner, she loses so much more than a roof over her head - she risks her safety, faces relocation and loses access to financial stability, community, and support systems. With domestic violence as the leading cause of homelessness for women, many are forced to choose between staying with a violent partner and having a place to stay. Support Walk for WAGEC Women's & Girls' Emergency Centre (WAGEC) so that women and their children can walk away from violence. With the rising cost of living and housing crisis, WAGEC's services are more in-demand than ever and needing your help to raise $300,000 that will fund vital services that will support women and children in crisis, and stop violence before it starts. A donation of $250 could provide three days of crisis accomodation for a woman and her children who have just escaped violence. Every dollar helps to build a safer future for women and children in our community. We're stronger when we walk together. Donate here: https://lnkd.in/gT7rErZ8

No one should suffer the horrors of human trafficking, yet it continues to thrive in our communities and around the world. Victims—many of them children—are trapped in a cycle of exploitation, fear, and abuse. At Magdalenas Daughters, we believe that with awareness, education, and a strong community of supporters, we can break this cycle and offer survivors a new beginning. This fight isn’t just about rescue; it’s about creating lasting change. Your involvement can help provide the critical resources and care these individuals need to rebuild their lives. By volunteering your time or donating to support our programs, you can be a part of a movement that gives survivors a chance at freedom, dignity, and hope. Join us in the fight for freedom and justice. Together, we can build a world where no one has to endure the pain of trafficking. Visit https://lnkd.in/g_hh4n7w to learn how you can make a difference today. #EndHumanTrafficking #FreedomForAll #HumanRights #SupportSurvivors #Humantrafficking #Magdalenasdaughters

6moA high level of comestic violence - and a lack of protection by the law - is also a sign of a "culture of violence" that is relevant for #peaceresearch . That is what my studies show.
