Yesterday, Tuesday 9 July, marked the start of the new Parliament, with members of both Houses of Parliament attending the House of Lords chamber to hear a Commission from the King. The House of Lords then started oath taking, beginning with the Lord Speaker. Oath taking continues today, Wednesday 10 July, ahead of the State Opening of Parliament on Wednesday 17 July.
