This research highlights that a #ketogenic diet may be associated with a reduction in overall mortality without increasing the risk of cardiovascular-related mortality. The study involved 43,776 adults and found a significant 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 between the Dietary Ketogenic Ratio (DKR)—a formula that accounts for the proportion of fat, protein, and carbohydrates in the diet [(0.9 × 𝑔𝑟𝑎𝑚𝑠 𝑜𝑓 𝑓𝑎𝑡) + (0.46 × 𝑔𝑟𝑎𝑚𝑠 𝑜𝑓 𝑝𝑟𝑜𝑡𝑒𝑖𝑛)] / [(0.1 × 𝑔𝑟𝑎𝑚𝑠 𝑜𝑓 𝑓𝑎𝑡) + (0.58 × 𝑔𝑟𝑎𝑚𝑠 𝑜𝑓 𝑝𝑟𝑜𝑡𝑒𝑖𝑛) + 𝑔𝑟𝑎𝑚𝑠 𝑜𝑓 𝑛𝑒𝑡 𝑐𝑎𝑟𝑏𝑜ℎ𝑦𝑑𝑟𝑎𝑡𝑒𝑠]—and all-cause mortality. For women with hypertension, the recommended intake of dietary fiber should be more than 28 g per day. For men: more than 38 g per day. Interestingly, each additional 5 g per day of dietary fiber was estimated to reduce systolic blood pressure by 2.8 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure by 2.1 mmHg. Saturated fat causes Insulin resistance. This is the current paradigm. A paper on this was by Ben Bikman around 2010 confirms if you infuse saturated fat IV or around the cell directly the impact on cells is that insulin resistance increases. Point proved- stop eating saturated fat or you will die from Cardio-vascular disease. Except this is not how we get saturated fat into the body, we eat it! New hypertension guidance from ESC recommends people without moderate-advanced chronic kidney disease with high BP should consider switching 'traditional' salt for potassium-rich reduced sodium alternatives (such as LoSalt, with whom I have worked as medical advisor for years to raise awareness of the role of excess sodium in hypertension) or potassium-rich foods.
