Leon Furze thanks for sharing. Definitely the right conversation for us to have. Personally & professionally, I don’t see use of AI for drafting or generating initial ideas as an “either/or,” way of thinking. Instead, I’d prefer to see it as “that/and.” I started using AI as an “ally” and assistive instructional device for students with IEPs back in 2019. My brilliant, predominately Black, male students at an alternative middle/high school in Metro Atlanta. GA struggled to organize their “whirlwind” of creative, initial thoughts into a solid “first draft.” It was the first time we were truly able to capture the genius of Black children. They “spoke” their knowledge into a “speech to text” tool and the rest is history! They increased their literacy skills by a grade level in just 45 days.
