My last post here got a lot of comments - many commenters asked me not to generalize the Delhi air quality situation to the rest of India. Yes, you are right, air quality varies from city to city. And yes, in Delhi (and some other northern regions) it is especially challenging. However, every major city in India can significantly improve its air quality - there are technologies that can speed up this transition. And there are technologies that can protect us from pollutants inside our homes, offices, and other buildings. That was my point. Moreover, I believe that India, with its enormous potential, can become a leader in this virtual global competition on air quality!

It's only when you start working in India that you can realize how awful the air in Delhi is in the fall and winter. It's one thing to see the figures in the news, and quite another to see screenshots of measurements from colleagues and the forever thick smog outside their window. The video shows an air quality monitor recording a 50-fold increase in pollution as you leave the office for the balcony. If such measurements were typical, you could just wait out the bad season in your apartment without going outside. Unfortunately, however, the air in homes and offices is often worse than the air outside. Bad indoor air is a problem in all countries, but it is becoming a huge problem in India because of the dangerous quality of the air outside. Obviously, everyone should have the opportunity to breathe clean and healthy air. Let the outdoor and indoor air in India and everywhere in the world finally become clean and healthy. All the technologies for this already exist today. 

This is what we call sanskaar—values instilled by parents and grandparents in a child, a practice that is sadly becoming rare these days. It's heartwarming to see that some individuals/families still uphold and practice these traditions... What do you think?
