Please join us in welcoming Nathan Sanders, PT to The Iowa Clinic Johnston Physical Therapy department! Nathan joins The Iowa Clinic with a passion of providing high-quality healthcare across multiple disciplines. His interest in physical therapy was sparked by a running injury in high school and further deepened during his first anatomy class. Nathan is fascinated by the human body and movement, and he finds great fulfillment in helping patients recover and return to the activities they love. An Iowa native, Nathan is excited to provide exceptional care for the people of central Iowa. A dedicated runner, Nathan has completed the Boston and Chicago Marathons and aims to run in all six World Major Marathons. In addition to running, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two dogs, playing golf, and cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes and Minnesota Vikings. If he weren’t a physical therapist, he might have pursued a career as a sports journalist.

Totally on board for this! 🙌 Adding fully licensed physical therapists (PTs) into this mix as well. 💪 Likewise, to all my athletic trainer (AT) peers, I cannot emphasize enough the importance of partnering with your local sports/orthopedic PTs! 🏥 When we come together as a sports medicine team, we have the potential to greatly impact the care for all our athletes/patients. 🤝🚀 #bridgethegap
If you're a PT student interested in sports medicine: Shadow an athletic trainer. You'll learn a ton. You'll build healthcare bridges in the community. You'll get to see the full spectrum of athlete rehab from acute injury to return to play. Highly recommend.
