"Almost everybody, including myself, once they get into the industry and they’re here for two to three years, wishes that they’d come to it sooner." This quote from Keith Schuler in an interview with Sandy Laycox of Leaders Edge is spot on. Commercial insurance never seems glamourous, or flashy like other industries, but once you get in you never leave. Take a minute to flip through this article, and as always, visit our website ( https://lnkd.in/g7h7yzYX )for more details on how to start a career in commercial insurance.

In the mess of daily emotions and problems as an entrepreneur it's hard to take time to celebrate the wins. I am historically terrible at celebrating wins: - Finish a big project... on to the next one! - Get through a messy situation... what's next on my plate? - Negotiate a great contract... into another meeting. - Have a liquidity event... roll it into the next thing! I used to think it was part of my success, but I actually think it is holding me back. I need more wins and celebrations in my life. How do you celebrate your wins? I legitimately need help in this area. Please give me your ideas! 🙏 Here's my attempt to celebrate a win. Look at how cool this swing bridge is! I am proud of what we have accomplished bringing this vision to life. We have built three of these bridges in a series leading to our five acre meadow and it is amazing. What should we call it?

In the chamber and economic development business, we often talk about "standing on the shoulders of giants" or people who came before us who set the stage for today's success. This story about Ed Coyne and the linked obituary, tells the story about how Tennalum came to Jackson. As I read the story it became very apparent that the most important part of economic development has remained unchanged for at least the past 35 years----relationships are the key to success. John D. Graham and Ed Coyne had a relationship that led to the location of an operation that has employed hundreds and represents millions of dollars of capital investment. One of our relationship principles is do business with people you know, like, and trust. That approach was successful thirty years ago and still drives our success today. #economicdevelopment #jacksontn #tennessee Kaiser Aluminum https://lnkd.in/e7G-_8ys

Gloria Oppong, a Black Canadian entrepreneur, took home $30,000 for her startup Cleanster at a Black Innovation Summit. Cleanster is a platform that connects property managers with reliable and highly-rated cleaners. The idea stemmed from Oppong's personal experience of needing help after having a baby. Partnering with Derrick Agyiri, who already had a freelance service platform, they recognized a gap in the cleaning industry – a demand for quality cleaners and the difficulty for cleaners to find well-paying jobs. They shifted their focus to address this imbalance. This story offers valuable inspiration for Black entrepreneurs. Oppong's success highlights the potential of finding solutions to problems faced within your own community. By identifying a gap and leveraging existing resources, Black entrepreneurs can create businesses that address specific needs while fostering economic empowerment within their communities.
