Divisions over Gaza grow as the prime ministers of Spain and Ireland demanded a thorough review of the EU-Israel Association Agreement this week. In an open letter to the European Commission’s President, Ursula von der Leyen, and the EU’s High Representative for foreign policy, Josep Borrell, they specifically called for an assessment of Article 2, Israel's adherence to "the essential points of the relationship in terms of human rights and democratic principles". The letter further states implementing the “two state solution” as the “only way to ensure that this cycle of violence is not repeated”. The EU’s approach towards Israel continues to be divisive and even dangerous. The UNRWA debacle stands on the edge of complete service interruption, as the United States, Canada, and ten EU member states have suspended their funding to the organisation. ✍️ Report by Marta Casares-Lara & Hazar Deniz Eker 📷 Image Credit: Damage following an Israeli airstrike in Gaza Palestinian News & Information Agency (Wafa), CC BY-SA 3.0, via Wikimedia Commons

Barrister-at-Law (Specialist (International) Human Rights Law (IHRL), Administrative Law, Class Actions, Anti-Discrimination Law, Workplace Relations (Employment & Industrial Law, inter alia) (Self-employed)
The #Israeligovernment and its backers (including the US) have long declared war on #PressFreedom and #FreedomofSpeech There is no liberalism, there is no dignity, there is no integrity, there is no truth, only hollow platitudes and lies, lies, lies and poisonous improper propaganda The "fog of war" is mere fabrication for propagandised publication The mainstream media #MSM are taking us all for mugs Thankfully truth is finally breaking about the long barbaric neo-colinial occupation of #Gaza via an ever-expanding plethora of #independentmedia sources available at our fingertips and the contemporaneous capture of evidence made possible by the digital economy The truth will prevail and is prevailing but the concern is how many thousands of completely innocent children, women, men, journalists, doctors, nurses, teachers, mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, grandmothers and grandfathers will be needlessly murdered in the interim...? The international Committee to Protect Journalists stated on 22 December The Israel-Gaza war is the most dangerous situation for journalists we have ever seen, and these figures show that clearly," said Sherif Mansour, CPJ's Middle East and North Africa program coordinator. "The Israeli army has killed more journalists in 10 weeks than any other army or entity has in any single year. And with every journalist killed, the war becomes harder to document and to understand." (which is probably precicsely the point) More journalists have been murdered and reportedly specifically targeted since as detailed by another excellent broadcast by Ian Curr on 4PR - Voice of the People: “In a time of deceit telling the truth is a revolutionary act.” ― George Orwell Hear the voices of Wael al-Dahdouh (journalist in #Gaza) and his colleagues who have been targeted by Israel, Jeremy Corbyn (former leader of the Labour Party in Britain), #AntonyBlinken (US Secretary of State) and John Boyd (activist and singer from Queensland in the 1980s). Condolences We are deeply saddened by Israeli murders of two journalists who have been bringing news from Gaza for the past three months. They were Al Jazeera Media Network's @Hamza Wael Al-Dahdouh and AFP journalist, Mustafa Thuraya. Image: Wael Al-Dahdouh and family member. Al Jazeera journalist Wael Dahdouh holds the hand of his son Hamza, who also worked for Al Jazeera and who was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Rafah, Gaza Strip, Jan. 7, 2024.

Dear Arab and Middle Eastern media that claim to be 'independent'. When 90 percent of your coverage of Gaza and Lebanon come from western news agencies and US/western and Israeli official and non-official sources, you are, though maybe unwittingly nothing but a mouthpiece. Please utilize your resources to do real journalism. Diversify your sources, speak to the people on the street. Invest in real investigative work. Do your own reporting. Stop cutting and pasting the western media rubbish. If we are to ever reclaim our collective narrative, we need to write our own story.

Worth 35 minutes listening to Israeli journalist, Gideon Levy, columnist for Haaretz, the longest running newspaper currently in print in Israel. With so much censorship, both direct and indirect, going on with mainstream reporting on events, it is good to hear views from someone still speaking out in the face of receiving 'death threats and being shunned by some of his best friends for his coverage of Israel’s operations in Gaza'. This takes some #courage and #gratitude to Gideon Levy. What is worth hearing in this interview, even as in my case I have heard it before, is the sort of information that Israelis hear from birth about Palestinians. I came across this when I visited Israel and Palestine, with many Israelis warning me people living in, e.g., Ramallah were terrorists, and they would never go there; and their general language of them being less than human. Margi Brown Ash and I, and one of our children who lived in Ramallah at that time, found Palestinians warm and friendly, not surprising as I have found this in all my travels. That's why I love to travel, to have conversations with people, of whatever race or creed, to understand our similarities and differences. As Gideon Levy observes, it may be because many Israelis have not taken the time to get to know Palestinians or ventured into the Occupied Territories, outside of their time in the military. This rings true when we think how #fear is all-too-often caused by lack of information, and increasingly today, misinformation and disinformation. When we have met and had #conversationsthatmatter with others, we get to realise their humanity and, like us, just want to get through each day with our loved ones.

What are your thoughts on this? Afridi targeted Imran Khan indirectly in a recent tweet. "No one can tarnish the beauty of the moon by spitting at it; the spittle will only fall back on the one who spits." Imran Khan #ImranKhan #Pakistan #ShahidAfridi #Politics #Cricket #Leader #Criticism #Propaganda #puppet #Leadership#Innovation#CareerGrowth#Motivation#BusinessDevelopment
Senior political analyst and journalist Hassan Nisar opined on Shahid Khan Afridi's latest tweet, which covertly targeted Imran Khan. Hassan Nisar said that Imran Khan's charm cannot be broken, even if a thousand Shahid Afridis come. Shahid Afridi does not have that kind of influence. There is no question of breaking Imran Khan's spell. #pakistanrepublic

Mirroring Our Morals: AI’s Reflection in Middle East Media Coverage As AI uncovers our biases and fallacies in the depiction of the Middle East conflict, it begs a profound question: Why embrace AI when it harbors potential for such harm? Consider AI as a mirror, not just a tool; it reflects our collective morality in stark relief. Its impact is deeply intertwined with our ethical choices. I find myself in a constant state of ambivalence towards AI. Its ability to fabricate realities, fostering a culture of misinformation, stands in stark contrast to its capacity to reveal our deepest prejudices and purposeful wrongdoings. This dichotomy challenges us to ponder: How do we intend to wield this double-edged sword? Will AI become a harbinger of falsehood, or will we guide it towards unmasking truths and challenging deep-seated biases? My engagement with AI transcends mere fascination; it’s a commitment to shaping a framework where AI doesn’t just serve us, but also challenges us to confront the ethical dimensions of our actions. It’s not about using AI; it’s about what using AI says about us. Are we ready to let AI hold up a mirror to our society, revealing both our brightest virtues and our darkest impulses? #AIethics #MediaBias #MiddleEastConflict #DigitalReflection #EthicalAI #TechResponsibility #TruthInTech #MoralMirror #AIandSociety #InfoIntegrity

Just listen to the statements or interviews of any genocide enabler in the congress, and they'll be parroting these AIPAC talking points:
If you're wondering where your Congressional representative is getting their genocide-denying talking points from, it's probably AIPAC. Journalists at The American Prospect received leaked talking points sent to Congressional members from AIPAC, one of the largest pro-Israel lobby groups in the United States. The talking points direct members of Congress to deny that people are starving in Gaza and say that Israel has not obstructed the flow of aid into Gaza in any way.

After a Long time! In this Article, I tried to focus on bias in language of media portrayal regarding Palestine—by juxtaposing it with Ukraine. How are the narratives shaped? This question has many answers. And I have tried to present one of these. Thank you Unseen Conflicts for this! #mediacoverage #palestine #biasawareness
How does one change the narrative? One of the easiest ways, as shown by Palestinian journalists, is to document. - Meher Fatima #media #palestine #palestinelivesmatter #gazawar #ukrainewar #ukraineconflict #linkedinlearning #newpost #newarticle https://lnkd.in/gypsSsVW
