Members of our team recently attended The Lighthouse Charity Scotland West Annual Dinner which took place at the Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow. The aim of the event was to help raise awareness of the charity’s work, providing emotional, physical and financial wellbeing support to workers in Scotland’s construction community and their families. To support the charity’s ongoing work, we donated around £4000 during the fundraising evening. Our Contracts Manager, Stephen Robertson, said: “The Lighthouse Scotland West annual dinner is always a fantastic event and this year, we were proud to be able to donate towards the event fundraising total to help them continue to highlight the importance of positive wellbeing and mental health support within the construction industry.” To read more, visit: https://lnkd.in/g7CSxqhE #Constuction #Wellbeing #LighthouseCharity

Volunteers from VINCI Building UK's project team delivering the transformational regeneration of St Helens town centre have worked together to support The Standing Tall Foundation, a local charity which is providing Christmas gifts and toys for the most vulnerable families in the borough. An event held in a marquee at the Living Well Building saw more than 60 volunteers from a wide range of companies help wrap, pack and deliver over 2000 presents. These were distributed amongst 50 local schools identified as having pupils with the greatest need as well as homeless families, ensuring the most vulnerable children have something to open on Christmas day. #socialvalue #communitesmatter #humility #teamspirit

It Takes TWO
We recently carried out a deep clean on the floors at CISCA House, which is a drop-in day centre on Canvey Island that provides a safe and supportive space for people aged over 55. We have been servicing CISCA House for a number of years and take great pride in delivering support to such an important facility for the local community. Our work was incredibly well received - here's what the charity's joint chairpersons had to say: "I wanted to say how impressed we are by the standard of the cleaning/polishing of our main hall floor on Saturday and the two young men who did the job were exemplary." #floorcleaning #commercialcleaning

Solving the #housingcrisis is more than building new #affordablehousing. It also means supporting those who don’t have a home and those who are at risk of losing theirs. It means resources like landlord liaison programs, system navigation and encampment outreach services like those we provide through our Downtown Outreach Housing Resource Services office. Navigating the housing crisis takes all of us. Donate today. https://bit.ly/4ddH3n6 #NationalNonprofitDay

Renovation work on the Good Shepherd Centre, a Keighley charity which empowers economically and socially disadvantaged people, is due to start soon. The charity focuses on health, education, pastoral care and well-being for those in need, as well as assistance with food, clothing, and household items. Its facilities at Presbytery House on West Lane are being modernised following a £140,000 grant from the Government’s #KeighleyTownsFund. The hall of the old building will be divided into two spaces, featuring fully refurbished triple-glazed windows, an energy-efficient heating system to keep the rooms warm, new lighting, and a brand-new floor. Last week I spent a day helping Yorkshire Children's Charity to pack essential items needed by young children for the winter. £1 million was raised last year to provide new items such as coats, pjs, bedding, hats, gloves and more, which are now all packed and ready to be distributed to those in need. Here's what I learned that day: -Firstly, how fortunate I am to have these essentials and not have to worry that I will suffer from the cold this winter. These things can be taken for granted but I can't imagine how unpleasant sleeping without warm bedding or going outside without the proper clothing would be. -Secondly, team work. We worked as a group to organise the checklists, sort who collected the items needed and get as many school orders fulfilled as we could. Had we not worked together, we wouldn't have completed so much and the task would be far more tiresome. -Communication. After sorting multiple bags, it became tricky to remember what was needed and to tell the difference between each school group's collection of items. We made our communication as clear as possible for the most efficiency whilst motivating each other through it. Overall, it was a great day to help out and meet new people. If you feel like supporting Yorkshire Children's Charity to raise funds for providing these essentials next year, or to volunteer at future events, here's the link: https://lnkd.in/efudvMUH

Today is International Men's Day and the theme for 2024 is 'making a positive difference to the wellbeing and lives of men and boys'. Statistics reveal that males working in construction are three times more likely to die from suicide than males in other sectors. This is the shocking reality of our sector, in which males feel like they can't talking about their mental and physical health among peers. Alongside our sister company Neville Special Projects Ltd, we are committed to making a positive change for those men who are struggling, which is why we chose The Lighthouse Charity as one of our Charities of the Year for 2024. Lighthouse is the only UK and Ireland charity that provides emotional, physical and financial wellbeing support to the construction industry and their families. You can find out more about the Lighthouse Charity in the comments below. #InternationalMensDay #MensHealth #IMD2024
