Creating Suicide Safe Communities - for the next 8 days any donation you make will be doubled, until we hit £5k. It really is that simple! 546 people died by suicide last year in the West Midlands. We understand that education, awareness, training, reducing stigma and collaboration with the local community are critical to suicide prevention. This is why we have designed a bespoke, targeted training programme for frontline services in the community to ensure we are reaching the most at-risk groups with effective, proven suicide prevention support and long-term interventions to actively reduce suicides and create educated, empowered, suicide-safe communities. https://lnkd.in/eYqSKiDT Big Give #Kind2mind

RACE 2 UPDATE! Join me in making a life-changing difference! I'm raising $10k to provide 5 survivors of human trafficking with 3 months of counseling through the Special Operations Finding Kids aftercare program. These courageous individuals deserve and need counseling to heal from unimaginable trauma and rebuild their lives. Let's give them the support they need to thrive again. Donate and share now and be a part of their journey to healing and hope. The link is in my Bio. #EndHumanTrafficking #SupportSurvivors" These survivors have endured unimaginable trauma, and counseling is crucial for them to address their emotional wounds, rebuild their sense of self-worth, and learn healthy coping mechanisms. Counseling can empower them to break free from the cycle of abuse and exploitation, reclaim their lives, and build a brighter future. https://gofund.me/446ec660

Eight-year-old Jason has been on our waiting list since March, suffering from sleeplessness, headaches, and school refusal. After a work restructure, his mum is struggling to find a new school-friendly job which, combined with a 30% rent increase and other rising living costs, is causing family strain. The family is forced to consider moving, which Jason dreads due to fear of losing his school and friends. He repeatedly asks his dad, "Are we poor?" Their GP suggested Jason's symptoms were anxiety-related and recommended Expressive Therapy with us. With 45 other children on our wait list, Jason's case highlights the urgent need for assistance to prevent these issues from becoming lifelong problems. Consider making an EOFY tax-deductible donation to help us get more children like Jason into therapy sooner. bit.ly/KidsXpress_EOFY2024

*I know this is long, thank you for taking the time to read it* September is here and while timelines are full of pumpkin spice and hopes for cooler weather, it is also a time of change and transition. Dwindling daylight hours mark the beginnings of seasonal depression for many and the change from busy summer schedules to the quieter fall months can bring spikes in loneliness and isolation to those without strong support systems. It is for those who struggle that we bring awareness to Suicide Prevention Month and organizations such as To Write Love On Her Arms that provide resources to those who need them most. TWLOHA's mission is extremely personal and meaningful to me, and I share this in hopes of drawing attention to their cause. These are just a few ways to get involved and a couple of them don't cost a thing: 1) Take one of their virtual Suicide Prevention Trainings; these are $20 to join, take an hour and a half of your time, and the information covered may prove to be invaluable. Just like being able to perform CPR, this is a skill set that you hope to never need but can save lives if you are prepared. 2) Donate to the cause; I discovered this organization as a teenager and their resources have supported me in some of the hardest seasons of my life. I am only one of many who have found themselves in a situation where life felt too big, and support was scarce. It is because of the support of donors that so many of us have been able to access help and resources that otherwise would not have been available. 3) Stream for the cause; TWLOHA has a program for Twitch streamers to raise money for the organization and break down the stigma surrounding mental health by opening up the conversation. This is a great way to get involved doing something you'd already be doing, but for a cause, and they provide tons of resources to make your stream a success. 4) Purchase TWLOHA merch; if you're going to be sporting graphic tees/sweatshirts, they might as well have a message worth sharing. You never know who needs to read the words "Please Stay" or "You Are Enough" - do not underestimate the power you have to positively influence others, even passively. and finally, 5) BE KIND; You've heard it said that every person is fighting a battle you know nothing about - keep this in mind in your day-to-day life and meet others with empathy, kindness, and acceptance. Everyone has pain, everyone has insecurities, everyone has struggles, but not everyone has the same tools and resources to deal with them. When we lead with empathy and kindness, we create a space for others to feel accepted and safe. Community saves lives. Remember to check in on your friends - struggle looks different for everyone and sometimes just knowing someone cares enough to ask can be reason enough to stick around just a little bit longer. We all have the opportunity to create a better world, and it starts with being kind.
Please stay alive isn’t a sentiment that ends with those three words. It continues on into each day after we make that plea. It manifests by making this life one that has less suffering, and more support. It provides the kind of community that not only believes that better days are ahead, but wants to put in the work to make them possible for everyone. Suicide Prevention Month is here, and it means a lot to our crew the way that people show up and show out during this time. Our goal of $200,000 is not one we can manage alone, but it’s necessary for us to keep providing the help and hope that we’re known for. Please consider making a donation, even $5, in honor of the work we’re doing this month and all year round. You can donate right now at https://lnkd.in/e3mUhZwc Please stay alive, friends. You are not a burden.

This week we are encouraging everyone to learn more about how they can prevent suicide. The numbers are well documented. More than 700,000 people a year take their own lives. But what’s less well understood is that almost all suicides are preventable, and helping turn someone’s life around is something we all can do. In our places of work and study, the communities we belong to, and the clubs and societies we are part of. Over the next few days, alongside Ripple Suicide Prevention Charity, we’ll be sharing six ways you can be there for someone. #suicideprevention

The U.S. Surgeon General has called the decline in children’s mental health the “crisis of our time.” But Children’s Rights is working to combat this crisis. Through a mix of strategic advocacy and legal action, we’re working to hold governments accountable for children’s health and well-being. Just this year we: ◾Filed lawsuits in New York and Iowa to help Medicaid-eligible children access the home and community-based mental health services they need, when and where they need them. ◾Advocated for the end of congregate placements, where children are isolated from their communities, are often denied adequate mental health care, and suffer even greater harm and trauma that impact their mental well-being. Donate today to ensure that kids get the mental health care they need. During December, your generous donation will be matched dollar for dollar up to a total of $10,000: https://ow.ly/HzJS50Qfhvf

Hey, brainiacs! I'm taking part in the push up challenge for Mental Health. Here are some funny reasons why you should donate to this awesome cause: 1) Because life is hard and people need help to cope 2) Brains are squishy and mushy, but science shows you can reshape them no matter how old you get. 3) Working out keeps me sane, so I won't freak out at you 4) It's the biggest fundraising event for mental health in Australia 5) Stick one to the man and get some money back for doing good! The Push for Better Foundation is a legit charity in Australia and you can claim your donation on your taxes. (ABN 49645093349) 6) I also put my money where my mouth is, so you know it's good stuff.

No child should have to flee their home to escape family violence, but there was no other option for five-year-old Adam and his little brother Zayne. When the violence went from bad to worse, their mum knew that the only way for them to be safe was to leave. But escaping their violent home was just the beginning of the story. The consequences of exposure to family violence can have a lasting impact on the development and wellbeing of children. WAGEC’s Helping Children Heal program seeks to mitigate the harm caused by family violence by meeting the developmental, emotional and social needs of children in refuge and outreach. Adam and Zayne’s story is not an uncommon, but it's one with an ending you have the power to change if you act now. Demand for WAGEC’s services is growing, and we have no choice but to turn some people away. With your support, WAGEC can continue to help children like them heal and recover from family violence. Donate now to build a brighter future for children like Adam and Zayne. Donate here: bit.ly/3Rf5dVc
