We've said it before and we'll say it again. Major gift fundraising is NOT a 9-5 job! That means that in order to do it well, you have to be flexible so you can meet your donors when they're available. The problem with this reality is that many non-profit leaders expect their fundraising staff to be in the office and work a regular 9-5 schedule, meaning the fundraiser is probably confused on how to not burn themselves out. Instead, leaders and directors need to understand this truth and provide flexibility in the schedules of their Major Gift fundraisers.
