Let's settle this whisky debate once and for all (before my eyes roll so far back that they stay there forever!) Quit nodding along, pretending you know the difference. Stop sounding like a novice and start impressing your mates. Here's the real deal on whisky, stripped down to the essentials: 🥃 Scotch Scotland's pride. Single malts (Glenlivet) or blends (Johnnie Walker). Made from malted barley, aged in oak. 🥃 Irish whiskey The smooth operator. Think Jameson. Blend of malted and unmalted barley, triple distilled for extra smoothness. 🥃 Bourbon America's bold contender. Jim Beam's your classic. At least 51% corn, aged in new charred oak barrels. Next time you're at the bar, order with confidence. No more guesswork. No more rookie mistakes. It’s time to become a connoisseur. An enlightening experiencer. A flavour savourer. Here’s my challenge to you: 1. Try one flagship brand from each category 2. Note the distinct flavours and production methods 3. Impress your friends with your newfound knowledge What's your go-to whisky now? Don’t be shy, let's compare notes 🤓

The secret to a truly unforgettable whisky? It's all in the bold, distinctive character that sets it apart. Craigellachie 13-Year-Old is a perfect example of just that. You take one sip and immediately taste the difference that robust ex-Bourbon and ex-Sherry cask maturation makes. Toasted marshmallows Fire-roasted pineapples Baked apples with cloves ↳ this whisky takes you on a flavour journey like no other. It's the kind of whisky that makes an impression and leaves you wanting more. Because here's the thing… Life's too short to settle for mediocre whisky. You deserve to savour something truly special. Something that excites your senses and leaves a lasting memory. So here’s my advice… → Look for whiskies that use a mix of interesting casks to create complex, multi-layered flavours → Opt for age statements over 10 years to ensure a richer, more developed character → Don't be afraid to try bolder whiskies that push the boundaries - that's where the magic happens Pour a glass, sit back, and get ready to experience whisky in a whole new way.

Whisky: More Than Just a Drink, It's a Story This video perfectly symbolizes what whisky is all about—storytelling, connection, and heritage. My time at Ian Macleod Distillers is something I still talk about, even though I’ve moved forward in the industry. Their core principles and strong sense of family are values that should be the bedrock of any whisky company. It’s exciting to see my all-time favorite expression, the Glengoyne Teapot Dram, being released again, marking its 10th batch. Whisky is not just a product; it’s about bringing people together, sparking conversations, and linking the past with the present. This video embodies what whisky is and should always be—a bridge between generations and experiences. #Whisky #Storytelling #Glengoyne #TeapotDram #IanMacleod Glengoyne

Scottish whisky's future lies in its...past? That certainly appears to be the case for legendary former distilleries Brora and Port Ellen who reopened in 2024 after decades shuttered in obscurity. Ghosts 👻 in the stills? More like spirits back in action! Two legendary “ghost” distilleries—Brora in the Highlands and Port Ellen on Islay—have stirred from their decades-long slumber. Both shuttered in 1983, these Scottish icons have reopened with a bang (or should we say ‘pop’ of a cork?), reviving long-lost whisky styles andpushing the boundaries of new innovation. Brora’s first post-revival 3-Year-Old single malt just came of legal age in 2024, and it’s already turning heads. Meanwhile, for those ready to invest in super-premium Scotch, the distillery’s 44-Year-Old Untold Depths goes for a cool £10,000 a bottle. Not to be outdone, Islay’s Port Ellen boasts a sleek, state-of-the-art setup—alongside lovingly replicated old stills—to produce experimental peaty single malts that promise a taste of the future. From roller mills for precise grinds to multiple “spirit safe” tanks for pinpoint flavor control, they’re leaving no malted barley unturned. For now, collectors and connoisseurs alike can only watch (and sip) as these whiskies mature. But if the past is any indication, the drams to come will be well worth the wait. Here’s raising a glass to an exciting new year of reawakened spirits, bold innovations, and a future so bright it needs a dash of peat. Slàinte and Happy New Year! 🥃 Full story: https://lnkd.in/gEvpbjFQ
